    Cicadas!

It is going to be a big year for the locust

    About deafening at times.

Imagine paying good money to go to an exclusive lodge/spa/retreat and being bombarded with some of the loudest sounds imaginable. No peace

    Cant wait for the crickets

    Sometimes they overlap

They peak in NZ in two year's time. 17 year cycle. It's called a circadian rhythm.

It's just another sign that the end of the world is nigh.
Locusts, earthquakes, floods, fire, blizzards, birds falling out of the sky, Liz Hurley shagging Shane Warne...it has all been predicted!

Yeah they can get really loud,i don't mind the crickets, they are a rather calming sound, kinda like rain on the roof, although if there are too many of them, might get annoying.

They've been measured at 108dB in the Belmont Forest Park when at peak numbers. I once counted (approx) 3500 on one wall of my house when we first moved in and it wasn't the full length wall.

Can't hear them. Well, I can, but it's the same frequency / cadence as my tinnitus. Can't tell the difference.

Nice! In other news my tinnitus disappeared with my last head injury.

Mate they have been driving me nuts for the last week or so, they are so bloody loud. Tried closing all the widows and doors, but then it gets too hot. Tried shaking the trees but then the bastards bombard me.

They were really bad 2 years ago too.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Weird. Maybe the cochlear cells took it to be a sign to straighten up and fly right. Haven't heard of too many remissions.

Yeah, but like any other sense you only percieve changes in the signal. So 99% of the time I don't "hear" it. It does, however detract from my ability to hear other things exactly as if it was real background noise.
