    heh, I saw this the other day and did wonder (found at a different source, can't remember which though)... the excuse seems "plausible", although the fact that they're splitting the ground, under ground, so close to the fault would have me more than a tad concerned... but they're scientists, they know what they're doing ... it'll be interesting to see if the fault goes pop.

    There are researchers working on that down at the Alpine Fault at the moment aren't there

    Yep they are.....,around here though its Earthquake zone A anyway & the nearest fault to me is about 70 metres, the next one is about 250 metres across the river

    well this thread is a couple of months old and "now" the Russians have their suspicions in regards top the New Madrid fault too

    perhaps earthquake data being removed from the USGS website in regards to Yellowstone seismic activity is more palatable?
