I've just fitted a 16T to my bike, instead of a 15 (because I could only get a 47T rear rather than 44T). Anyway, my 15T had slightly less clearance with the case saver that is standard with my bike than in the link's photo. The 16T fits fine. There is perhaps a couple of mm clearance to the chain. No problems in 500km. So I wouldn't let reduced clearance stop you fitting one to your bike.

Check out my DR build thread, I'm doing a few cheap mods to mine, with a few more expensive ones to come. The latest is free and I think worth doing.

We'll have to arrange to meet up sometime.

    Grab handle....I like it.

Problem with a lot of bash plates is they wrap around towards the oil filter, and send engine noise upwards. This looks like a real good solution.

Only hassles so far are the overly restricted exaust ( fixed , now better power ) and suspension is to soft , needs way more rebound and a little more compresion but thats happening soon , if I get a chance to let it cool down . At least it dosen't have a fairing as the bellypan on my SV is now rooted from shingle .
What's the approximate cost to add 17 inch rims ?

I may have a set of 17 inch wheels for sale with tyres and a digital speedo already setup. My son bought his DR650 in motard form but converted it back to dirt and the wheels have sat in my barn ever since. PM me and we can see if a deal can be done either with the Vapor or without.

    Cheers

    Brakes - need some more

Whats the first and best 'fix' for improving the brakes on a DR650? Especially the front - ss lines, organic pads, wavy rotor ... fully laden with lardass atop I miss the brakes on my Beemer - they're a bit extreme for the DR, but I don't like DR's front brake lever hitting the stops and the front wheel is still rolling.
