Only happens when i change at 15k+ rpm... i can see this being a problem if i take it to the drags
Might be a problem with the oil in the box? My hyosung had a problem where it wouldnt get neutral unless it was moving, chucked a lighter weight oil in and it was sweet.

Probably want someone more experienced than me to answer that though...

Yeah letting is slip to much. Just general wear on the plates. Usually in first.....

Thankfully mine was not that major, turned out previous owner had put motor up in it. So when it was getting near peak temp, was making the plates slip like a mother.

But have ridden bikes with f-ed clutches. Through general thrashing. They basically slip like hell.

I'll do an oil change now, i think its nearly due for one anyway - that could explain the gear change situation. Will 10w-40 be sweet? and whats the best brand? im guessing cycle(extremely expensive)treads is where i should be getting the oil/filter from?

I think ill just do a DIY - cant be that much different to a car .

It's easy as, cycletreads is quite competitive when it comes to oil, I have a hornet, 99% same engine as yours and I use Motul 15w-50 ($25 a litre or a bit less If I remember) and it's runs smooooth as.

The oil change is probably what it is I reckon

If you're replacing the filter as well, the bolt to remove the filter is near the sump plug, more towards the middle of the engine and has a big Circle thing (technical term right there) that comes off with it.

Anyway back on topic, i find that changing up around 16k is the best on my hornet (When it's actually running), otherwise the power starts to drop off a bit.

    vfr / 400's

Racefactory - na i havnt run a 400 on the strip before, seen a few run at meremere and i know what they should run on a decent pass though. most stock sports 400's should run anywhere between 12.5 and 13.5 stock and trap 155-170kmh.

vfr and rvf400's tend to be middle of the 400 pack in terms of power. Only thing holding them back tend to be their long 1st gear( for a 400 ), same problem i had with my 600 first time out, unless you give them heaps off the line the'l bog hard and cost you quite a bit of time winding through 1st.
If you could go low 13's or faster on one and trap 160+ then your doing alright, vfr/rvf's are neat bikes though, cool sound and becoming worth a bit now.

Nice one mate!! That's a good time. What's your weight and were you running a full tank of fuel?

Sounds like you using clutch for up shifts?

Probably could get it to 14.1 or 14 flat without bogging just that little bit and clutchless shifts you think?

If you didn't have to shift before the line and all of the above you could maybe just break 13's I think!? A good goal maybe haha.

haha thanks . Last time i weighed myself i was 67kg but that was a few months ago... I had around 5-6L of fuel left in my tank.

Yea i was using my clutch for the first few runs which were getting me consistent 14.46's. My camera stopped working after about the 3rd run where i started to clutchless shift (for the first time) - doing that got me the 14.260 (don't have the video). Im sure if i learnt to shift better and turn up with less fuel, i'll be able to scrape a few more milliseconds off
