I must admit at times it's a bit like a Boys Own "Old Boys" club with some members trying to peddle their wares . Some insightfull, amusing and interesting reads though.

Seems appropriate at this point to post a quote:

"I sent the club a wire stating, PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER."
    Groucho Marx

IMHO, BFTP is a great bunch to ride with, for people who don't normally like riding in groups. It's also a great forum for people who don't especially like online forums. It's a Good Thing if those people don't take themselves or their bikes too seriously, and it's a real asset to have a good sense of humour.

It's kinda nice to have folk participating within BFTP online who actually make an effort to attend a ride or event occasionally, and to catch up at the type of activities that tend to interest owners of older bikes such as swapmeets and classic race meetings. Admittedly that's not always possible due to family, work, broken bike, distance, health, etc, but I think we've seen most folk at one time or another during the last few years.

It's my observation that there aren't many groups or clubs catering specifically for '70s and '80s bikes, although there are several groups and clubs which will tolerate them to varying degrees. There's plenty of room for others to start a similar group if they are sufficiently motivated or are just unhappy with BFTP. All power to ya. YMMV etc

Well, I didn't even know such a thing existed, and I've got 3 bikes in the garage of the required vintage.

Of course, it would actually require me to ride the things rather than just fuck around with them in the garage because it's better than watching reality television
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

MATE... get a life or are you just stalking me
Lets put the last 7yrs in perspective... having had up to 9 bikes in the garage ranging from F4 racing, touring, sports, classic racing and riding classics on the road... I have spent much time on KB in the past organising and keeping in touch with threads reguarding race meets and touring to rallys etc, SOooooo... ys a fair bit of time has been, well I wont say wasted but used up on line including the BFPT forum, I watch SFA TV.
Having 2 sprogs under 2yrs old etc has me a bit on the back burner eg: no racing at the mo, so you will most likely see me on the BFTP forum more.
    cheers DD

Talk to caseye! Or a number of others who have spent winter time working on bikes, the Group (as I see it) is an appreciation society of 70's & 80's bikes (classic styling, classic looks), whether it be riding or working on them.

Oh,I don't think we are as narrow minded as that - we appreciate music and fashion from that era too...some of us still wear bell bottoms and paisley shirts. Some of us know about modern bikes, and have even owned them...some have owned bikes from the '40 and '50's,and know about them too.

The only thing we haven't got a clue about is politics...and please don't enlighten us.

Actually, there's a few things I don't have a clue about and in which I am quite happy in my ignorance. And as for fashion Motu, speak for yourself. I'm still not entirely comfortable when you're wearing paisley . . . .

I've always called it a crew. Crew is what happens when one of my bikes shits it's self and I get a crew around it offering tubeless repair kits for my tubed tires and other usefull offerings. Pit Crew. Ex George Formby, via Monty Python Motors
