Think they both sulked at getting their arses kicked and went to play in a seperate sandpit. Jonny K and Crafar went ok on the Suzuki though, even though it was underpowered. It's also the bike Troy Baliss shot to stardom on though. 4th or 6th wasn't it as a wildcard at the Aus GP way back when...
so inlighten me chaps... did Kawa leave the tandom twin idea behind this time? or is it the upside down thing that was mentioned? just that I cant figger out the lay out of that engine...
cheers DD

That ride from Bayliss was one of the all time great rides that thing was 25kph down on speed on the main straight at P Island and he had the thing on pole for a while. I have the 3 days on vcr somewhere it was all live on telly on OZ I remember him trying to ride around the outside of Caparossi at turn 2 and he was staring at him going WTF are you up 2 lol.
Bayliss one of the all time greats
Yep it is an upside down V-twin.
For whatever reason they could not get it to be competitive at the highest levels and pulled the pin.
Real shame.
Shame also that Suzuki pulled the pin on their 250 GP programme so early in the piece. Went well(ish) there for a few years. A lot of top riders went through that programme for short or long periods: Crafar, Barros, Gibernau to name just 3.

Yeah damn straight. Shows though that Phillip Island (despite what a few people think) isn't a power track. All about maintaining really good corner speed and linking all of the corners together well. Like Jeremy McWilliams setting pole on the KR3 vs the way faster v 4's and the new Thous.
Yip I was lucky enough to be there when McWilliams done that It was pretty Orsum I must say. Still hard to beat the sound of those 500ccGp machines I remember standing in the overpass bridge at the Island and just listening to the 500s was pretty mad and also towards the end of the main straight you could here them coming but couldnt see them that was prettu cool, The suzuki at terminal speed with Kenny Robersts on board sounded very nice
