My first bike was a wee Chinese knock off 50cc Honda mini trail bike, I was about 8 or 9 and got it for my birthday, I rode it for the first time around the backyard and have it too much gas and rode it into the trampoline, got it all tangled up and dug a huge hole in the yard, kinda scared myself off it when I rode it int oa tree at a good speed, took me another 4 or 5 years to get back on the wee thing and road it around mac bay when I done the paper run.. Also managed to dump it on the road and burn the hell out of my leg.. (was a little squid then).. Sold the bike for a little bit of money and that was it.. a few years Rolled on and I was 18, working at work and relying on the olds to get me to work and back, "F*ck this" I thought and I got myself a wee 49cc scooter, Thrashed it about the place and even managed to carry four 24packs and 6 bottles of bourbon on it from one end of town to the other, Also rode it in a Tshirt and jeans not shorts this time, lernt the hard way when I hit a wasp at about 60km and it lodged itself in my arm (im severely allergic to them) and I swelled up like a balloon..
I had it for about a month and decided it was farrr too slowwww and sold it on and got a loan for a Honda CBR 250R .. by far the best decision of my life to date, its left me with some debt but I dont regret it not for a min, while trawling trademe for a bike I seen a VFR400 NC30, and then a CBR 250, I seen the NC30 and was in love, just wanted the bike but settled with my learner legal 250. I had it for about 7 months and in that time I managed to have my first oopsie which surprisingly Caused literary no damage to the bike. And also decided at the 7month point I was over it, too slow..
So I began to look at bikes again, I seem to look everyday If I win lotto Id have a a carpark dedicated to the bikes I wish I could have, but I found the one I wanted and I set off to the bank again to sort my shit, and here I am now, With my Honda VFR 400 NC30, 'Spitfire' a bike I can spend time on and make it my own, a bike that I enjoy riding everyday, I havnt had much of a chance to ride it anywhere besides home and work daily but Its amazing,
Riding a bike isnt about the noise, its not about the looks, its not the cool factor, its the freedom of the road, in a car you are restricted to a lane like a train to its tracks, on a bike you have all the freedom you want to move within the lane, to create your lines, to visualise the corner, IMO a bike shouldnt be locked up in a garage and brought out just for sunny days, it should be loved.
