You forgot to mention the physical effort of repeatadly picking up a klr out of the mud.
But any weekend away riding is good in the end.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Well that was an interesting weekend
Getting up to Lake Daniels was a mission, the river was up and running quite swiftly so the 20 odd crossings didn't exactly go without incident.
I managed to drown my bike twice, hence no photos from me as camera went swimming.
First time my legs weren't long enough and the second the front wheel fell victim to a submerged tree branch. Luckily as my XR has a decompression lever so you can pump the water out of the cylinder without having to remove spark plug...seat,tank etc etc
Josh also gave his DR a lengthy bath so the two hour return trip took us about 5hours!
By the time we fuelled up at Reefton it was just on dusk so basically rode all the way into Big River Hut in the dark which was pretty scary for me but even worse for Josh as his headlight bulb had blown so was just relying on following my lights
The next morning we awoke to find that the rivers had risen by over a metre and we spent two hours sitting around waiting for the water levels to drop. Eventually we got bored of waiting and basically floated the bikes across the swift flowing waters which were waist deep, so after de-drowning the five bikes we were off again...
If you're not living on the edge you're taking up to much room!
Life begins where your comfort zone ends!

    Swamped

Well I will put my part in, I shot into Big River on Saturday night because Josh forgot to TXT me, it was dark, raining and I had a ball, anyway it didnt rain just like Jatz said but it did piss down all night.

I was to meet the boys at 9am at the turn off, well 9am came and you guessed it (no one), so I decided to ride in and meet them, the pictures say the rest (Woodman wood be proud, 5 drowned bikes), what I rode through Saturday night about 200mm deep was now 700mm deep and fast flowing and bloody cold according to Mr Jatz.

Anyway three hours later we started our 9am ride back out of big river up to the Reefton saddle and down to the green hut to the river and back out again, mostly not a bad track, bit greasy and step in places but all good, thanks to the boys for helping me pick up the DR650 a couple of times (just showing them how to fall off)

After that we went back to Reefton via the ZigZag track for a coffee and hot pie, at that stage the boys had to gap it to Ross, I went and had a nice hot shower at the B&B.

I enjoyed the day and a great bunch of guys

Nice pics T.R. The road to the left of the Surf in your pic was a stream when we first arrived at the crossing.
Anyhoooo, here's a small selection of my pics, I'll do some vids when the library opens tomorrow and a bit of a R.R. over in the Jatz's thread

"Dave" ADVGD checks out the second crossing after leaving the hut.

    The third crossing

Coming back up the track to Green hut

A small bit of the Mt Greenland track, it took a bit of effort to stand on this stuff and walking on it was a bit of a lottery

    Cool Pics

    ...and great write up.

Did a trip round Te Anau and many little back roads Sunday then Mavora Lakes on Monday and up to the old musterers hut.

Biggest issue for me over the weekend while sitting in the sun at Te Anau was choosing between having a ginger crunch with my Capachino or not
