Ah well. At least it gets one of those 'big ones' out of the way. Jeez, I only guessed it as being a 4.5. Appalling!

yeah 6th strongest... thing is we are getting AS's from 2 different faults, that one from under my arse being the Greendale from sept 10. Makes things easier on town at least.

Found out yesterday about another shining example of living in Selwyn...
We've got the builders coming on short notice to gut the place but we can't leave - animals among other problems. Checked with the council as to whether selwyn was going to have any temporary housing as living in our passageway may become too much....
Apparently you're supposed to get 3 weeks notice from Fletchers and yes, Selwyn have available 2 room relocatables which can be moved onto your property for just this scenario. They've realised that cockies among others just can't leave.
BUT - there's been NO publicity whatsoever that these will be available....

So for those in Selwyn, here it is. Don't expect to see this in the local papers any time soon...

Try Sicon - or as you seem likely to have WT & R licences, several local contractors are always looking for staff.
Personally, I wouldn't come out here. Once you're accustomed to the level of service from CCC - even now - what you get here and how you get treated comes as a nasty shock.
Of course if you're from a well known farming family or have money none of the above applies to you......

I need some minor repairs to some internal doors (i.e. it would be nice to have them close for heating control). How long is a far suck of the sav for the eastsiders as far as not tying up a builder (who could be fixing shit up over there) goes? Winter is here, and I can afford to heat the whole house in the short term if it'll relieve the stress over there, but from what I read here I might as well just get them in and have it done?

Exciting & just a little scarey at the same time

I will walk away from my severly damaged house with no idea what the outcome for it will be....

Leave my third world suburb, with empty houses, moss growing in the liquifaction, partially demolished buildings, the portaloo & the 10kph speed restriction outside my house.....

    Leave my liquifaction damaged garden...

wait for the $10k+ for contents & emergency repairs & the $100k(over EQCs cap) from EQC...

Leave behind my Tuono cause its earthquake damage not sorted yet....

I simply cant wait to leave !!!
    ....but.....you can't leave!
Whos gonna show Peetey & the boys how overtaking's done!
You take care Helen, we are all gonna miss you
If you need anything! just yell

....Have a big safe garage in waikuku that the Tuono can share with my Ol Guzzi if required ...polishing costs extra tho

Well next time I'm up visiting the olds (they're about 400m from the hospital) I'll have to cruze the parking lot and leave rude post-it notes on any italian bikes I see parked there then!!

Take care anyway; a change is the rest by the sounds, just watch out for the fuzz of the Tasman policing district, if the press releases they had over the m/c accidents in Nelson / Picton / Blenheim and various proactive "safety campaigns" are anything to go by ...

So Gareth what was it you said about MaxF's "Funky ass curves"? - God, now I'm worried...

YEAH NOW THAT WAS AN AFTER SHOCK

Cheers for the thought D... I fixed the main problems with Mr Belt Sander, but really I need someone to straighten the frames which is a little beyond my modest home handyman skill set.
