Was fortunate enough to get a ride on the full power Euro spec one that's doing the rounds as a demo bike. VERY nice. Very refined! Will post my impressions presently

Did the same, rode the demo that was on tour. Only a short ride though.

1st and 2nd seemed far too high geared but that's an easy fix. Quite a jolt when you go from closed to open throttle. Other than that it's light years better than the old xz10r.
I also tried the zx10sx thingy.

Does that imply that the ones sold here will be restricted?

I may be wrong (Im not often) but I believe all the o6-010 10r's in NZ were canadian spec which were restricted.

That was correct for the ZX636. NZ received the same stock destined for North America which were limited in top end revs compared to Europe spec. There was a quick and easy fix for the 636 and I can confirm it DID make a noticeable improvement.

I've heard that the new ZX10R arriving now are the unrestricted versions.
I had a full tit blast on a just run in 2011 ZX10R recently, going right through the gears to redline was awesome. Certainly a big improvement on the previous model.

The ABS version is Aussie (full power) spec.
The non-ABS is Canadian (restricted) spec

    Right, then..... MY opinion, FWIW...
I really liked the power delivery... although I did muck around with the traction control a bit to try it out. Was easy to ride with restraint, and had bloody AWESOME power once a few revs were on. Liked the fuelling.
The front suspension was actually quite good, surprisingly. The BPFs worked quite nice for composure and comfort. The rear sucked. The spring was WAAAAY too light, and the rear squatted quite a bit under acceleration. Consequently, the bike always felt like it was running wide exiting a corner.
General comfort-wise.... I'd happily do a 600k day on it. The smooth engine contributes to the comfort. And a real feeling of refinement.
It hasn't made me want to rush out and buy one... but I did like it. IF I had one, RT would be getting his pocket lined fairly soon after I got one. The bone stock suspension wouldn't suit me.
