Well, it saves you the $400 fine that the police or parking wardens will give you for no WoF, no Reg.
But people that fuck up and drive into you are not entitled to shrug their shoulders and walk away from facing the consequences of their fuck-up just because you haven't got a Wof or rego.

What happens in same situation if say the scooter rider suffered an injury, whats his ACC status?

ACC is "NO FAULT" cover ... and it IS possibl for Police to charge BOTH parties in this case ... for separate offences ...

Causing an injury accident is frowned on by the enforcers ...

    AND...

ANOTHER MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT ADDED TO THE STATISTIC'S ...

    well done ...

I meant that if your Rego is not current do you have ACC cover?
Logic would suggest that if you have no rego your not covered by ACC....

Logic has nothing to do with ACC cover, nor does rego, all the off road unreg accidents and unregistered rugby players get covered regardless.

People seem to assume that if you have a WOF your vehicle has a right to be on the road, this is not the case.

A WOF just says, at XX/YY/ZZZZ your vehicle was at a road worthy standard. If your vehicle brakes wear down after this point before your next WOF, your vehicle is no longer in a road worthy condition.

WOF infringement fines are to make sure people keep their vehicle in road worthy condition. 6 months is normally short enough to pick up on things like brake pad wear etc.

You can be ticketed even if you have a current WOF for your car/bike being in a non-roadworthy condition.

I really wish people would stop giving advice like "talk to the person directly, get as much cash as you can and get out of there!".

If it was your fault, you are fucked. If it was there fault, they are. That is how our law works, and I am proud of that.

Not any more they're not matey. 'That' incident caused such an outrage (as it should), that you no longer receive acc help if the injury is done doing a criminal act.

Is running a red light a criminal act? Or just a traffic infringement ? Is there a difference?

I would've thought simply a traffic infringement unless you were charged with dangerous driving, which is a criminal offence I believe?

I'd also say that you were heading in to get a warrant so you could register it. Which of course you won't do now due to damage. I'm generally aware of where I was going for a warrant in case I get stopped.

Other than that follow everyone else's opinions.
