Check out the "search" function.

They dont protect you from the laser.....you can still get sprung. They just line you up and flick it on once they have you in the sights. If you want a decent one with the wiring kit, mount, waterproof cover, helmet mounted led etc....budget $1200 +
The waterproof motorcycle one TPX isnt as grunty as the better ones like the BEL or Valentine 1.
Just slow down.![]()
Best way to avoid getting snapped, use your eyes and brain.
I guess you knew the "search" comment was coming hence the capitalised LATEST.
Everyone's got their own preference.
TPX is good for being waterproof and having buttons you can operate with gloves on.
Otherwise I'd go
1 Escort 9500ix with built in GPS fixed camera locations
2= Bel STi or V1
4 TPX
detector will not help you if you cant choose the time and place.
A similar thread as appeared on Southernrider.co.nz
and one of the fellas on there (besides scummy) is also a cop and heres what he had to say on the whole radar detector.
Worth reading.Speaking from a 'little' experience' Detectors generally only tell you that you have been caught! On a straight section of road you should see a cop car before you come into its radar range due to the size of your vehicle, if you don't then you might as well give up riding cause your'e going to kill yourself due to inattention.
On a corner or series of sweepers you have no chance as the radar operator has move his thumb 1cm to check your speed whereas you have to react then hit the brakes. Speeds don't have to be locked on a device and there is no legal requirement to show a driver...it only has to flash up on the screen. The radar are also operated in "hold" mode so they are not emitting a signal until the rlease button is hit - so no signal for a detector to pick up - when it is released the speed is obtained almost instantly.
Its $800 + plus for a good detector ( that doesn't get set off by all types of electrical interference) and about $7000 for the radar set...guess which is the better bit of kit.
And a final piece of advise, echoed by most others...detectors pick up radars...they don't warn you of dickhead car drivers, wandering stock, crap on the road or a thousand and one other hazards out there for bikers
Absolutely correct. Nothing beats the Mk1 Eyeball, but the Escort 9500i is a damn good backup. Just remember that unless the cop is lazy, or is pinging other vehicles up ahead, your detector will only inform you that you have just been hit.
The best anti cop device is a recording GPS. That way you know whether the cop is being truthfull when he claims the speed you were supposed to be doing. Twice now I have asked the cop to record in his notes that my bike is fitted with a GPS, that it is recording, and to note the exact GPS time and location. Both times the cop has NOT ticketed me.
Time to ride
hahaha.... another detector thread
Funny thing is in 10yrs nothing has changed, the detectors back then are still the best, as for seeing the villin before detecting it goes... I cant see 4km up the road, can you?
cheers DD
(Definately Dodgy)
Better still get yourself a radar destroyer, It sends back a signal about 1000 times stronger than what was emitted, frying a crucial component.I've got it down to shoebox size so still a bit big for a bikeOf course I would never use it in spite to take out the popos revenue machines
