Well if he made it from a rusty XK, as the article claims, then I'm happy with it. Quite amusing

You're not alone there, I like the TR7 (hard top).

Now we wait for YD to come in and tell us his sad story of buying a TR7 back in the day

Yes I can confirm that unfortunately you are indeed sick.

My 1981 Red Convertable was my pride and joy. It looked "The Business" I was earning lots of cash at the time, which was quite fortunate.

Three and a half engines later, I sold it just before the gearbox gave out.

Having now met a Stag owner with 318,000 miles on the original engine and gearbox, I guess that TR7 drivers could well also be the problem with the stock engine. The American's really liked the design of the car but concluded that it needed rebuilding between the fenders.

If you do find a seemingly good one, watch out for flat spots between 4000 and 6000 RPM.

The Fiat X19 is a terrible example of an Italian copycat and a pretty poor car all round. BUT streets ahead of the TR7 in the reliability stakes.

Yes it must be a hard top, can you guess what motor I'd have in it?

I knew there was something wrong with me....

I think they may have just been a poorly made motor.....
I doubt I'd ever buy one, there are far better odd cars for the money.
I'd definitely but an X19, they are nice little toys rustangs....
A Matra would be even better

WHY? An unreliable breadbox on wheels ... melt them down and build reliable Suzukis out of them.

Q Why do Poms drink warm beer?

A They all have fridges made by Lucas Electrics ..
