I had the chance of replacing my TR7 2.0 ltr lump with a 3.5 V8 out of a written off Rover.

Regrettably I didn't do it as I was assured that the 2.0 OEM unit was perfectly balanced for the car. Also, I wasn't so sure about upgrading the brakes and shocks.

That was a serious error on my part that proved to be even more costly

I have driven one very good TR8, but that was years ago. I have no idea how it would rack up against more modern cars.

You don't see many around (for good reason)

Cool is me buying a TR7 and making a TR8 for less....
Or a V8 GT6, that would be the perfect Try-umph for me. So sexy.
Does the TR6/2500pi lump fit in to the GT6? I imagine it would...

Turns out the wee Mini needs some rust repairs for the WOF. I haven't had a look but the old man reckons it won't be too hard for someone with a few clues. It is underneath apparently so won't affect any visible bodywork.

$2500 as is guys, the garage is required for something else.

I learntto drive in one of those a S model manual. My mother had it foryears until some toerags stole it in Tuakau and raced it through a forest. It was fixed, but never the same again. It got sold to a Rover carclub member, who I met at the Autobahn a few years later - he had pulled it all apart and got it mint.
Always had a liking of them, and if I could afford it, I would buy another.

A red manual 'S' for sale near here - was on TM.

I think the old guy has had it almost since new - I remember seeing him in it in the '70s.

Here's another for YD to drool over:

    http://www.turners.co.nz/Vehicles/Pa...x?RefId=934328

The later X350 model (aluminium bodied), with the 4.2L V8 - only 50K on the clock.

"This was the Governor General's XJ8. This car has ferried around Dame Silvia Cartwright and Sir Anand Satyanand since it was purchased in 2003 for $160,000."

Auction estimate $21K to $24K - almost half what the dealers would put on it...

And no, I haven't got the money for it either...

My old man was told by an owner of one of aluminium bodied cars that his fuel bill was cut drastically
