Thanks...yeah, the fan was going for it. I was also thinking that even it might be going even faster when it hits max ie normal fan speed on at 11 bars, and then faster when its all flashing and the red light is on - I might be imagining

Both the coolant and oil have all be replaced recently so I'm happy with those...I also have thought about a manual switch but in the meantime. will keep an eye out on the forums and see how the 88C switch is working out. I also think the manufacturers generally get it right when they decide on a component...as there is always a domino effect that us mere mortals don't fully get yet.

Good to here the tyre is doing the biz...I think I'll have to wait another payday before getting one - I just bought some new Sidi Crossfire boots...they are excellent! Besides being a solid, well made MXish boot...they are very water resistant which was what I was hoping for. FAr better than I thought they'd be. The ankles have a pivot which makes gear selection and some walking manageable, and for me they are tall - meaning that my shins are protected from the tooth pegs when my feet have to touch the ground 'adventure boots' are too short meaning that flesh will get munted by dirt pegs.

Thanks for all the info. Yes, I'll drop you a note when I'm heading up...I'm hoping to get up there and help my bro-in-law clean up the place, then drink some bourbon by the outside fire :thumbsup: in the next month or so

I run the recommended 10W-60...and always err on changing it earlier than later.

I was gonna get a pair of Xies but opted for tech 10's instead. they are excellent boots with about the best ankle protection technology available and very comfortable.....only negitive is they are about as water tight as the Alamo after Mexican army has emptied its entire munitions suppy into it

I think so called "Adventure" boots should be made illegal as they offer little or no protection for ya legs when it really counts!!!

oooo...

tech10's are full on boots for sure, interesting that they were so leaky...perhaps they are more worried about getting water out, than keeping trying to stop it getting in, in the first place. Like gumboots, are really good until you stand too deep

Yeah, I like the idea of the adventure boot, but they just don't cut for real adventures....some of them are nice to walk in! what the...I ain't doing no walking!

just an update on more tweaks...

I've got another thread going on the motard section regarding fueling motard dyno and dyno chart but the essence of the thread is that I have uploaded the Akra Map.

While the bike was happy under full throttle...it was hotter, stalling, and a I bit vague at lower rev's. The akra has fixed all that...feels better.

I also installed the KTM 690 luggage rack, as the one clint made was ideal if you wanted to leave it on. I've been hit in the back and butt from some more exuberant off roading, so I wanted a smaller form factor. Fortunately, I've manage to make a new adaptor to take clints base and givi plate...which fits nicely to the unit.

The wolfman tank bag is also proving to be a real good unit

hmmmm verly interesting...its funny how many disenting opinions there are on the merits of the akra map...guess the real experts/manufactures new what they were talking about after all

I beat the shit out of my Crossfires when I had my 950, they are one of the best boots for adventure riding that I've even tried. The do squeak like mad when you walk but the idea is not to do to much of that.

good to hear, and yes they can be squeaky mutha-fathers for sure...I know the guys in the office can hear me coming... :-)

Taking the toe caps off is worth while unless you intend to take it seriously offroad, you don't make as much noise with them off or stratch peoples floors and I bashed them into rocks etc and never noticed any difference, probably worth having if you're doing a moto but I doubt thats going to happen 8).

Yes :-D...thats the trouble with forums or the public, everyone has a view...and not all of them perfect. I proved that the bike will run with the original map and slip-on muffler, it showed great power on the dyno but down low it still ok-ish...but better with Akra. Seeing the very white spark plug, and also those hotter moments also showed that its just too lean down low. You did yours - yes?

some photo's showing the KTM hard parts luggage adapter ($180NZ ish...everybody asks)
Wolfman bag (can't remember but $200 ish seems about right.

You can see how the KTM part is nice low profile, and then you can see how I bolt on the givi plate. The alu side bars give the saddle bags something to sit against as well as give the givi plate some extra support.

I do like the fit of the KTM parts...it came complete with new bolts, spacers etc...so a nice easy install....unlike the neoprene gaitors.

I put on the KTM full length neoprene gaitors to protect the fork sliders. (I've had to do the seals once because of shit getting in there) and was thinking about hot sticky roads and tar sticky to them...anywayz. I got the RHS on relatively simple but the LHS with the brake !@#$ bracket.......that would not stretch over it at all. take the forks out of the triple clamp...hmmm so much for a quick job

It was actually my bro that made the carrier rack, I didn't like the look of those high front corners on it either, the KTM rack looks much safer. I had made side pannier racks to bolt to my bro's rack, I adapted them to fit Chris' B&B carrier the other weekend. Once he's filed down all my birdshit welding & painted them he might post some pics.

Yeah, I am almost done with the painting. I spent quite a few hours with the files/sandpaper to clean them up and re-shape a bit, but now I have done a couple of layers of paint it now shows all the bits I should have paid more attention to.
But oh well, I am using some crap paint so it will probably fall off first ride out.

But.... I have been making some changes to the bike.

Sounds so good. I tried to do a video to compare it with the baffle in/out but my camera seems to normalize the audio so they both sound similar. But jesus its loud without the baffle.
