yeah I was on the way to work & late as usual. Couldn't think of a piss taking remark at the time. Of course several gear changes later I thought about asking if his police intuition was telling him to set fire to his house & climb out the window & blame it on the satinists (as it was about that time that one of our, well ex, boys in blue got caught doing the insurance defraud thing cw crazy story).

Ahh, ya can't turn back find them & pull them over to give a line.
Don't you look at my accountant.

ouch! Before I got my leathers I came off at 50 with jeans on. Remarkably I only touched a really small part of my knee and didn't for any further damage. Fractured my wrist though

It's amazing to see how they promote safety on scooters, it gets worse and worse!
Might just sell my leathers and buy a few good pairs of jeans then huh.

That's exactly the point we made to them, selling scooter riders the message of a one piece leather suit isn't going to work, that's what motorcyclists wear (not them!). Enclosed footwear & jeans are better than flipflops and shorts, if we can then make that draggin jeans and boots we're onto a winner.

I saw this at the bus shelter on Mayoral drive, yesterday.

So that's ACC's grand plan to reduce costs aye

Must be some sort of deal they have with Levi's

On another note, if they want to encourage people to gear up, show some photos of people who've crashed without gear..... they do it for seatbelts, drink driving and slap them on fag packets etc

What's really annoying about all this is that they raise the levies on bikes, particularly bigger ones, and then go on an advertising campaign targeting scooter riders. Kinda like, let's take money off bike riders and spend it on scooter riders who are too stupid to realise that jandals and board shorts aren't going to save their skin. Thought the increase in levies was partly going to go to reduce bike accidents (yeah right).

I crashed about half a dozen times in my first two years of riding, all at around 50 to 60kph. All I got was minor grazing in one or two tiny spots i.e. nothing to worry about. What was I wearing? Boots, jeans, PVC jacket, gloves and helmet.
