Completly agree! Awesome weekend riding! Best terrain ive ridden on.
They were right about the changing weather conditions. 4 seasons in half an hour. Im sure everyone was feeling the wet and cold saturday afternoon no matter how many layers you had on.
Big thanks to everyone that put it on.
Will post some photos later on.
Weren't they just. After lunch on Sat it just got colder and wetter.
But what a fantastic ride. over 200km of some of the best riding one could hope for.
Thanks to all that made this possible,we will be there next year.
Will put some video up after i have shortend it down from 12 hrs![]()
if anyone's interested in going next year theres some pics of the 2012 ride @ http://www.kaseus.net/gallery/boundry-buster-121215
whole weekend was really enjoyable.
well maybe a bit of a stretch to call the tussock on saturday afternoon 'enjoyable', more like freakin hard work with KTM's overheating all around (mine included, gotta get a fan), honda's blowing clutch's, SX-F's battery dying (no need for a kick start sounded like such a good idea) and the general fitness of IT geeks not really suited to hours of tussock bashing.
joined the "cruisers" on sunday for a more relaxed ride but even that group was riding at quite a good pace and the terrain over the "other side" is pretty damn awesome.
I heard it was a great ride, unfortunately I had to give my booking to a mate as I had a change of plans.
(kinda) nice to see some photos of it.
It was a great weekend. glad you didn't get my faceplant coming back from Mordor on Sunday.
two guys that joined us (cruisers) last year on the Sunday said our pace was quicker than the sly-dogs.
now next year i would like something between the mud bath (2011) and the dust this year.
I fitted a fan kit to the ktm after one ride at Woodhill, so much for being told the overheating issue is a myth.
Cheers for the link to the photos.
It was a great weekend.
There were other KBers there?
Being the inaugural 450 ride for me (on an 07 450 6 days) I joined the cruisers on saturday which was easy but dusty riding with our group leader getting abandoned when his Husky fell apart (round one to KTMs!). I enjoyed the relaxed riding and tour guide approach to the day but could have used a bit more off road. Joined the sly dogs on sunday which was a better fit for me althought they were riding a lot more relaxed pace than saturday and had a great day on the western side of the desert road as well as the quick loop back over B20 (somewhat steep going down that....) and the usual Tussock Buster tracks back to Waiouru.
Great weekend, all ready for next year.
Oooh, the 450 was a blast too, best move I have made and has lived up to my expectations completely.![]()
Yeah I was there (KX125 with 503 on number board) - I joined Sly dogs that Sunday too - as the first day was just too much road riding in the women's group. Got split up on the first day and did some of the tussock track, which was much better!
Sunday was good fun, until I went through one of the water crossings and my bike drowned, then I fell off into it! Got it started again (carry tools and secure spark plug thankfully) and then went over the handle bars 3 min later!
Was B20 that hill after lunch? I like going down more than going up.
I thought it was well worth the long drive.

Think I recall seeing you, at least the bike sounds familiar.... B20 was the downhill, in lots better condition than at the tussock buster too! You weren't alone in the bike drowning or swimming events, every water crossing had someone taking a dive, was quite entertaining, especially as it wasn't me doing the entertaining for a change. Waiouru is a great venue, it's on my must do list for any ride down there.
