G'day Lloydthe Yalata roadhouse hadn't been shut long, I don't think. the ply on the windows was still very new
. The map said it was an Aboriginal area. MrsJ posted a parcel for you today
We'll be going back maybe late next year or early 2013, hopefully, and leaving from Sydney. Do some off seal stuff and go to Alice springs, then down to Adelaide and then to either Melbourne or back to Sydney. Still in the planning stages at this point, hmmm hire DR650's or send the 350's over![]()
[QUOTE=Eddieb;1130219947]I would quite like to do Cape York, though that's the better part of 2 weeks on it's own, [QUOTE]
+1, hell yes ........... wonder if I could get away with "just popping down the shops, love" and arrive home two weeks later???
It would be a good trip from Sydney to the Alice. You can follow reasonable dirt roads all the way then drop down to Port Perie in South Oz and track across the country back to Sydney from there. Or, from the Alice you could go north to Darwin then back down to Three Ways and run across to Mt Isa and Queensland then back to Sydney. I think you would enjoy the second option. It's more outback Australia. But you have a year or so to work it out.
Can't wait for the 'Parcel'. I'm like a kid waiting for a birthday.
Hope you and the boss had a good Chrissy. Sorry to see the Earthquakes have hit again. I hope they didn't do any damage where you are.
Cheers.

Just like I have bugger all idea where Port Perie, Mt Isa, etc are you obviously don't know much about Un Zed. Motueka is about 250km (as the crow flies) from Christchurch LOL. Shakes that far away are barely noticeable. I hardly notices anything below a 5 now days!
Cheers R

We did feel the 2 shakes you fullahs had just before Xmas....Quite strongly too
I'll have to get my map back out Ausi-B and have another look, we were looking last night and that French Line looks like it may be a goer, then through Mt Dare, up to Alice then back down the Oodnadata and back towards Sydney. Need to sort out time frames, and decide whether to freight bikes or hire/buy.
Ahhhh so many roads, so little time![]()
I went for a ride to celebrate new years day.....
and I had pulled a spare seat out from where it was hiding under the house, to go with the new tank on the little bike, I ordered the tank on the 18th Dec from justgastanks.com and it arrived on the 31st, pretty speedy postage IMHO
Anyway..... here's some shots of the bike
On top of Altimarloch.
It was a little cloudy
The ride through Molesworth was good, the road was in great nic, what little traffic there was pulled over quickly to let me through and everything just clicked, so I didn't stop to take any pics really
I had a cold sausage for smoko here
and then the next stop was here
The bike hit reserve here @ 217k's, much better than the 160-170 I was getting
After a quick detour to Hanmer for fuel, I pootled through the Rainbow, only stopping for the survey guy and to open a couple of gates
I went up the little track on Island pass
and that was about it. One or two spots on the road were a bit loose but it was pretty goodThe gate guy recomended I follow the pylons instead of going along the road, to avoid the pot holed bit that was an issue for others. I tried, for about 50m, but hell it was rough and I couldn't see the rocks in the long grass
1 last pic, because I can

And it was home, via Tophouse and Gibbs rd's to a nice frosty beer![]()
