found the answer in the fuel chart I've never had to worry until now, just means Off-spring will have to carry some extra fuel

    Altimarloch

    Hi all,
Does anyone have info on the track to Altimarloch? Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I am thinking of checking this track out on the way back to Welly from the DB on Monday/Tuesday.
    - Is access readily available?
    - If so, where is the turnoff? (I missed it last time through the Molesworth), or does anyone have a GPS track.

Also is it suitable to ride on your own, or steep/loose etc and recommend company?
    Any help appreciated
    Cheers, Bruce

There are various GPS files on Ryans ADV routes site if you zoom the map to the general area you should be able to fine it, click on the red line to access the files.

Last time (few years now) I went up there the main challenge was deep rain ruts that made the road a bit narrow or needed to be crossed at times. Other issues were a couple of tight turns and wind if it's blowing up top.
It's a bit rough but not particularly difficult.

Bugger ADVDG bet me to it.

Cheers Aslan, No doubt I'll catch up with you at some stage on Friday.

    Hi S,
If you're not doing the Awakino i'm not either. With a new untested mount, unknown fuel range AND trying to stay in one piece for our snowboarding trip to Canada a couple of weeks later, the gentleman's option i will be happy to take.

I shot up there a couple of weeks ago

Rain ruts are mostly filled in, and the track is in good condition, a bit loose up top but nothing too extreme, beware of punctures. The turn off is just as you leave the seal and hit the first bit of gravel

Thanks Transalper and ADVDG. I got the GPS file from the site, so will hopefully be able to find the track this time!
