I will do the printing as close as possible to my departure to Welly so I get it all (most likely print/bind on 1st March). Was thinking of dropping a note onto the threads close to the time so anyone can add last minute messages of support if they want to (and go back and edit anything they've said that they don't want to be immortalised in print perhaps). Unless you've got a different idea in mind the thread(s) will be on nice paper and bound.

Finally, my absolute favourite pic from Taupo - what an inspirational and lovely man:

Cancer Relay Threads going to print

    Greetings all.

I will be printing all the Cancer Relay threads this Thursday 2nd March. They will then be all bound together into one book of sorts. I'll take it down to Wellington on Friday and it'll go into the baton for it's journey up the country. It'll then be presented along with the other bits and pieces.

The reason I am telling you all this comes to you in two parts:

    1) It mightn't be a bad idea to go through any posts you've made and edit or remove anything you don't want to be permanently recorded. I can't think of anything that actually needs changing, but that's up to you. All that we ask is that you don't go crazy and end up changing the past, so to speak, and ruining the flow of the thing.

    2) Please feel free to add any further personal messages of support.

Once again, anything that's still in here on Thursday will go to print, and obviously the opposite is true of anything not added to the thread by then. See most of you Saturday.

    Tony

We first met you at that party in deepest Manawatu (Aokautere)
Since that party, we have had the pleasure of your company on a few more occasions.
The courage and strength that you have shown has been unbelievable.
Add to that your caring nature and determination, admirable traits indeed my friend.
You can talk the paint off an old tin fence Tony, and that’s the very essence of who you are.
It has been such a pleasure (for a lot of people) to have you around in recent times.
The idea of this ride in your name Tony was a no brainer to be honest.
It did not surprised me one bit, the willingness of those that have known you for however long (be it years or be it months) have offered up their time and commitment for this weekend.
We (your friends) are the ones that have had our lives enriched by the mere fact that you have been a part of it.
Your family has much to be proud of, I can say that with absolute certainty.

Love to you and your family at this time and forever more.

    Some days...

Some days make you really glad you got out of bed. Seems to me to be becoming a more and more frequent occurance since I started kicking around with yous fullas. But just now something has really made my day.

I was at the Glenfield Mall (which should be enough to make you all jealous, but it gets even better!) and went to talk to Kevin at Inkworks to find out how much it was going to sting me for all the printing. I explained a bit about what we were doing and why, a bit about Tony and his situation and what we all think of him, and finally about what I needed doing print wise (roughly 200 pages of black & white and bound). Before I got to the bit about asking for a good price and that I would supply the paper, he jumped in with "Yep, I'm happy to do that for you for free as sponsorship". I just about fell over, as I would have been chuffed with just a good price - especially considering they are a couple running a small business, not some huge outfit that can afford such things without blinking. Also, although I have had one thing printed there months ago he doesn't know me at all. So printing, paper and binding is costing absolutely zero, courtesy of the wonderful Kevin & Belinda van den Berg at Inkworks, Level 3, Glenfield Mall.

If you ever need any printing done (I've had them print my online workshop manual for the CBR) please make an effort to send business their way - and say why. And if you're passing, maybe just stop and say thanks (I have about 486 times already!).

    Isn't humanity just awesome sometimes?
