ridiculous, blatant targeting of bikers. The actually said outright that they will deliberately target motorcycles all weekend - if youre so focussed on targetting bikers, how are you going to see the drunk driver or the guy over the white line or or or?
Targeting one group makes those in other groups much more likely to get away with balatantly illegal, and highly dangerous activities like drunk driving - all because them big bad meanie leather clad scourges of society MIGHT get clipped at 107km/hr on a long straight road.

It is a shame that they focussed on the one death that caused during the TT, and not the MANY that participate without incident, interesting also that they attribute the cause of the accident to the actual TT - it could have been caused by many other external factors. I could point out on the fatality front, that more bikers have been killed in the tasman area by fuckwits cops doing illegal U turns, than there have been fatalities that could in ANY way be attributed to the TT. More people have died as a result of shark attacks in NZ waters than have died in the TT.

It is a shame that the police decision makers chose to go with a negatively focussed approach, with fact twisting and outright lies about the event.
Given that the policewoman in charge in the tasman area is a biker, I am a bit surprised that they didnt try a different approach if the had concerns.

Heres a thought, what about them picking a spot most likely to be frequented by the most riders, and put up a table with some coffee and sammiches, I feel that a "Due to the high number of riders in the area doing long days of travelling, we have taken an interest in their safety and will be providing coffee and sandwiches as revivers so that NZers can enjoy their weekends in safety" the police are after all, supposed to be there to provide protection and safety, instead they are being utilised as basically an armed offence squad (tickets instead of guns) acting menacingly by threatening to harass all on two wheels.

Im left a bit lot for words at the brainlessness of the cunts in charge of the police, and Id like nothing more than to drag them into the gutter and kick them in the fucking teeth

Mmmm, all the best guys n gals.

On the news tonight was a clip about all mentioned before, made even my non-biking wifey respond to the Police opinion: Bollocks!!!!

Clocking 2000 kms in 48 hrs is easy enough with enough preparation. No I've not partaken in previous TTs nor am I likely to in the near future, just doesn't hold any appeal nor challenge for me, it's too much like my job anyhow.

The whole idea of needing to do excessive speeds to achieve the averages required to cover the distance....smacks of inexperience of the subject. The best way to put this to bed is for nobody to fall off and no tickets, so that's my wish for the event.

That road is (often) directly into the teeth of a Canterbury nor-wester ... which can bring a fully laden motorcycle to a crawl very quickly. On a good day.
On a better day however ... the straight isn't that long, and more fun bits can be found just down the road. (in either direction).

But that spot ... although it affords great views of the mountains .... has hidden dangers that can lurk in the shadows. Sheep (sheltering from the wind) on the road are a bigger threat than cops.

One of the few times I've had the FJ over 8000 RPM ... was on that piece of road. In the opposite direction to shown there ... around 2 am, on a Chatto creek 1000 miler. (boosted the moving average up a bit for that leg) It was pitch dark and no moon.
