I hope there are still a few mint GSX1400s around in 20 years time. I could see myself buying another one. The like of it won't be made again.

I still think you could just paste 'lorem ipsum' under your photos and it wouldn't make much difference, Dave.

I haven't actually had the pleasure of riding a GSX 1400. I should imagine they would have more low end grunt than a mob of pigs at feeding time.

My buddy Mark (with the BMW in that pic earlier) is a moto-journo for Rupert's rags nationally. He's out to buy one at the moment as his daily ride.

Re: the Katana and Lotto - just buy a 1250 Bandit now - better performance, modern shizzle.

Not reeeeeeally. Not like, say, a Twin Cam 103. The meat's at about 5,000rpm. It's still a four-cylinder motor.

You really want to take one for a ride sometime.

Make sure you wind all the clickers up before you get on.

You want to talk 'grunt' - you have to talk Rocket III - it is unique.

I haven't ridden an MT-01. kiwifruit got off my GSX1400 onto one and described it as 'wheezy'.

Personally I quite like the MT-01's looks but I suspect that the motor is still in cruiser tune and doesn't quite match them.

Edit: I would've test-ridden one last year before I got the Sporty, if Road & Sport hadn't had such an unpleasant approach. The salesman's apparent terror that I might not buy a new Harley after all lost him the whole kit and caboodle. Sales guys: if someone test-rides a new bike and then gets off it and takes an interest in some second-hand unit that you'll make less money off of, at least have the decency to conceal your frustration and pretend you're still keen to sell him something.

As always, I enjoyed my dealings with AMPS the following weekend.

I have a mate in Rotorua who has got one. He bought one of the uniform blue/white jobbies, and got the Yoshimura Japan muffler chucked in with the deal. He offered me a ride on it when he last turned up. For some reason or another I declined at the time. I won't next time.

Have had a selection of big bikes zx12r being the most powerfull but the mt has a differnt feel to it.The pull out of corners is more than enough with 160Nm at 2700 but what i like is it doesnt encourage me to keep climbing in a straight line.lets face it leaned at 35-45degree you cant put throttle on full at over 80 odd hp.You can add throttle while leaned on a race/sport bike but its not full throttle in the top 1/2its rev range.
Your correct it is a cruiser motor with some added compression but it works ok with half decent chasis,r1 swinger and nice brakes.

Preaching to the choir, brother. Look at what I'm riding now, I'm hardly obsessed with horse powers.
