Seems kinda pointless to press charges now tho doesn't it?
As I said, it is a bad outcome for everyone incl the taxpayer[us] !
The family are gutted but they know what goes on and are not putting their boy on a pedestal. TBH I don't think that it has actually really sunk in yet esp with Shane. He was having surgery today so they can move him to MM hosp. He will have been an drugs the whole time he has been in ICU I bet!

Never known our legal system let poetic justice get in the way of charging people.
I hope he recovers the use of his legs and recovers, and that he grows up rather then uses it as an excuse to be more stupid.
However I do agree with this part of FJRider's post
rather than bracketing alleged I think I would have emphasized it.his actions (including those previous actions) do not absolve Police from any (alledged) dangerous actions
Glad you have had your impression corrected then. You can even be a gun toting murder and get ACC for injuries suffer due to actions taken to stop you killing more people and they will cover you for injuries suffered escaping prison.
The beauty of a no fault system, we the tax payer pay the compensation rather than lawyer fees defending stupid wrongful injury cases, cheaper in the long run and less painful for us.
Imagine paying legal aid and crown lawyers for Graeme Burton to sue the cops for shooting his leg off and then if they lose still having to buy him the false leg and pay compensation as wellPity it was so long range they missed his head

AFAIK there has been a proposal to make this the case. Pretty sure it isn't ATM. But this would open a can of worms because he had been arrested and was no longer doing anything illegal, would be how it would pan out in court.
Recovery looking unlikely I think unfortunely.

Rules are already in place to stop those in the process of an illegal action ... be denied ACC cover. Running from Police may be deemed "illegal" ... but if while under arrest (with handcuff's on), is pushed over a fence by the arresting officer(s) ... ACC cover may still be available.
But I doubt if ACC help will be confirmed untill the Police report/verdict on those officers actions are made public.

I know of someone who came around a blind corner in a car, mid corner the road was gravel for repairs, no road works signs (stolen apparently). He crashed, ended up in a hospital bed for over a month, got out and was greeted by a dangerous driving charge.
Does 2 wrongs make a right? He still broke several laws and still deserves the exact same punishment as anyone else who breaks the law. Letting him off without conviction would imply the police paralysing him was his punishment, which is a corporal punishment.
What a muppet.
If he hadn't been doing illegal shit, again, he wouldn't have needed to have been arrested and none of this would have happened. As for that facebook page, jesus. If those people are the future for this world, stop the ride, I want off.
I have zero sympathy for him.
As far as I was aware, after the GB incident the ACC rules regarding doing illegal shit and getting compo cos you got your leg shot off had been changed. I might be wrong, but hey throwing that out there?
A muppet indeed. Accident just waiting to happen.
The fact that John campbell is all over this is reason enough to not have any sympathy. Wonder if the commenteees on facebook are indicative of campbells audience? My guess is they are the more intelligent ones as they seem to be able to read and write.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
So he broke his neck in Police custody? Aided by the Police? Yup, totally his own fault.
I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
