I ride because I like it... and all parts of it.
Done Auckland-Wellington trips 4 times for work over the last few years, and throw in a bit of work when taking a break in the South Island each year...

I ride a bike cause I'd look stupid riding a sheep. Seriously though, have done a few trips Welly to Auckalofa and great fun. Even stuck in the foetal position that is the Ducati crouch. Makes ya feel alive.

Because when I ride I need to shut out all the work related shit and concentrate otherwise I'll die!
Oh and because I enjoy it :-)

Riding makes me happy, in my pants.
Fastest mode of transport in town, in the country or on the motorways (soooo everywhere), and I'm impatient.
Most fun mode of transport (I get bored of driving after 10 seconds).
I like leaning into corners.
I like having no choice but to have no music, no one talking, no distractions. Just me, the bike and the road. Good thinking time (I swear I could be a philosopher after some of the shit I think about while riding).
G-forces...
Cheaper on the gas.
I like to get wet and cold when it rains. (Not really, but I can't admit that a cage is better than a bike at anything!)
I like physics, bikes have very few unnecessary gadgets that add weight. I have no idea how my so called "sport coupe" car weighs almost 1.5 tonnes.
I used to stare enviously at every bike I saw ride past, now I ride and see all the guys staring enviously at me (I now know i wasn't alone in staring at every bike haha)
I like how society sees me on a bike and says "He looks like a respectful courteous man.... I wonder how fast he can dodge a ute"
My favourite thing about motorbikes. My dream motorbike is well under $100,000. I could easily one day have a Ducati or Aprillia etc. If I loved cars and wanted one of the best cars in the world I would need half a million for a standard Lambo let alone the top of the range.
...if we dont ride we get sick?...
On the offchance hope that one day it will score me a woman who will make me delicious pancakes.
I ride for those few precious fleeting moments when I am able to forget the drudgery of my banal existence and just follow that front wheel where so ever it should go.
Why do I ride? Because it makes me feel good, able be in controll of a vehicle that others are affraid of, freedom, and being able to concentrate on a task and able to forget about my troubles for a while. Stress relieve.
Also makes the brain work. But then again, all of the above applies to my ability to fly aircraft as well
I've spent my money on bikes, booze and babes. The rest I've wasted....
Bikes are a pain in the arse, you get wet and cold in bad weather and you can't listen to music or send text messages en route.
kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.
