The highlight of my ride this weekend would have to be travelling out to visit The Bridge To Somewhere - Excellent ride just to get out to this bridge.
Heading out on the Monday morning just the right time for milking enroute.
The TWO G650GS's decided to take a slight detour hmmm I wonder Where That Road Will Take US??? Let's find out - so as we ventured down this road UP The road we meet out friend KTM - amazing who you meet Roadside??? All Parked Up A short conversation before the TWO Intrepid explorers headed off again to take in some more.
Out There Doing It and Loving It
SPECIAL MENTION HERE - A big welcome to our NEW ADV rider amongst us Bernard and an EXTRA SPECIAL WELCOME to his son
Vincent from SYDNEY - Did I mention Vincent was an avid mountain biker/dirt bike rider from Across The Ditch - He is ONE VERY MEAN gravel rider out amongst us - awsome to have him along for our ride
Father and Son Team Bernard and Vincent - Welcome to us and welcome back to N.Z. Vincent even if just for a short time before he heads off for USA
Great that Team KTM could join us and say hi for our ride also - Eleanor and Karl - WElcome and thanks for coming along - was good to see some of our ORANGE machines out amongst it also
Parked Up at one of the VERY many tunnel stops - great photo opportunities for everyone
The start of our journey we completed MOST of the many gravel roads that led out to Kawhia for our lunch break. The grader had been over these roads through Limestone Downs and had gone an excellent job of it - a tough ride it was, nice start to the mng, km's of freshly graded gravel roads.
More pics coming soon and will be uploaded to our website shortly along with vid cam footage.
Excellent weekend and many thanks to all who came to participate in also - all of you made our weekend what it was - a great one.
The sealed portions of our ride made for very tough going for the many of us who arrived with knobbly tyres. The incoming rain we received on the SAT night whilst we were at AWAKINO made for some hairy moments for many of us. So a slower than normal ride was had on our journey out to visit the many tunnels. Up and over the many saddles and passes also some interesting moments again.

Good to catch up with the Auckland riders on Sunday. Thanks Sue for organising.
When we parted company after morning tea at the pub we went on to the Bridge to Somewhere via the Old Whangamomona Road.
A fabulous track with a couple of tunnels and a bridge - oh and some mud holes.
Great fun on our smaller bikes, but would have been a bit of an ask on the big bikes.
Looking forward to doing it again in the summer - at the pub on the way back we spoke to some trail riders who did a loop back from the old whanga road via Aotuhia station and Putikituna Road - must do that next time.
