Buell 1125 or Ducati 999?

999 hands down!

came very close to buying one myself (but a wee bit over my budget)
love the styling and the engine, great all round bike...and like most Italian rides, the smile factor is off the chart!


ps...if you can spring for it...get the 999s

I've always liked the look of the 999. I dont know why people call them ugly.

I'd totally have a streetfighter 848 too. or an 848 Evo.

or a 916. or a 250 desmo single.

The 999 series is growing on me and they're becoming pretty good value too.

While personally I would go for a 996R; a 998 or (best yet) shoehorning a Testastretta engine into a 916, The 999 is certainally great performance for the $$$

For me it would be the 999. Styling and heritage are the deciding factors for me between the two.

Go the Buell. It's no uglier than the 999, and at least it's never been seen as the homesick abortion the 999 was within the Ducati family.

It's faster, cheaper to run, and is at least a bit different. The 999 was for sure a great bike to ride. But it was one of THE most uncomfortable bikes I've EVER ridden. The Buell is actually quite roomy and nice to ride.

I took a new streetfucker for a test ride, had the folding readies in me back pocket. Think it was built for dwarfs. Surgically re-proportioned ones. I couldn’t use either handful without falling over the back or front. Never been so disappointed in me life.

Dunno - not been on a Nein Nein Nein!
I tell ya what though - I did some silly speeds on a few different 1125Rs and when properly set up the handling was just dandy. Stunts well too.
The early ones had some EFI issues though. Remapped and sorted.
Some have burnt out stators - bit of a known issue.
Are you going to do track days or summat?
