I always thought it was a shitty little bit of road, North of it alongside the Conway is a much better run

At one stage they were supposedly going to straighten the Northern top part where you go past the big tree butI was told they weren't allowed to cut it down?

Don't know, didn't think much about it, maybe I thought you thought it had gone the way of the Arthurs Pass Zig Zag, all overgrown and broken after being closed.
Pity we can't still use that one as a fun bit too but then half it fell in to the river if I heard correctly which was the whole point of building the viaduct as it was due to happen sooner or later.
Maybe that's what we need from the top of Evans Pass to Lyttelton, another viaduct. lol. It would be nice if they would at least open the Summit Rd from Rapaki to Evans down to Sumner again soon.

I have been told they will never re open Evans Pass

Very sad it was my favourite of all the Port Hills Passes.but it is not deemed essential and they are scared of falling rocks

Ive heard the same, but I find it hard to believe, logestics, fraight that cant be hauled through the tunnel has to go over Gebbies or the Kiwi, not cost afective... but I wonder how much the poofs in Sumner are behind the pass staying closed?
    cheers DD

I'd say alot of Sumner people would be wanting it open so they have more than one way out if need be.
