I object too, but I re-regoed my personal bike two days ago, so the sympathy train doesn't stop at my house any more.

    Was it you, Azkle?

Second bike I stopped turned out to be a winner. He was riding a late 90s VFR400, with no lights on. I was ahead of him, but I looked back and told him to put his headlight on. He did. Then I went back to my donuts, and he turned them off again. This warranted closer examination. As I pulled in behind him, the bike had no plate. Being good with clues, I spoke to him and found that the bike had had no WoF since 2006, same with rego. he had a full Class 1, but no class 6. The brake lever was a stump, it had snapped off all but the last couple of centimetres. The side panels were loose enough to fall off. It was a shitter.

    Was it you, Azkle?

There was me, throwing the law around, expecting people to comply. Surely one of todays champions of personal freedom was you.

I cant comment on whether the second bike was Azkle, but I suspect the first one was me

I must say it was the most pleasant run in with the law I've ever had (not that I've had to many - I tend to try and keep out of trouble, or not get caught as the case may be).

Have just done the rego for summer. Hopefully the next time we meet its under better circumstances (like at a pub after a ride).

Doh! Rumbled! Feel like I dealt with a mystery shopper. Like I said at the time, I don't like the levies either, but I play the game of being a law abiding camper.

Cool wee bike. Mentioned it to one of my troops, he raved about them.

Reps to you for being more than a fair-weather rider.

Um, suggest you carry donut vouchers, solves most enforcement problems. Carrying actual donuts means messy transactions.

Because it effects you how? Don't bother with the usual tripe about ACC levies and biker accident cost either, because ALL motorcycle accidents and injuries get lumped in together, and I don't know a single motorcross rider that hasn't fucked themselves up LOTS.

Yes, bikers need to take responsibility for themselves, but our gear is down the list compared to our attitudes and skill levels.
To be honest Drew, I'd place the attitude to riding as part of why they wear crap gear. I'd place gear fairly high up the list, comfort, (dryness and warmth) is a contributing factor to alertness and reaction time to an event.

I'd guess the reason for the 'splurge' of bikes was that the diesel spill also went over the track circuits at Ngaraunga and stopped the services on the Hutt line as well.... Lets not even go into Porirua losing it's signals, start of the afternoon peak as well.

You know my warped sense of humour now just HAS to get me to a dunkin donut shop, to see if they do 'gift vouchers'..... I wonder how it would sound in court... I opened the accused's licence and was offered a bribe of a 10 free donut voucher!

Forget court. You're in Wellington and he's in Christchurch. If there, you'd probably get a good laugh. Here (Auck or Welly or anywhere else perhaps) you'd probably get an incredulous stare
