You pay exorbitant marked up prices for Arai

    It's just a fashion statement...a Label

Popular culture reveres them................if it is expensive, it must be good eh..

    Marketing hype.

I hear the visors distort one's vision because of the sharp curve....or is that on a 'Shoei'.....well named; another 'showy' label.

Also..is it true that most motorcyclists that are killed, were wearing Arai helmets ?

    Bloody hell Tina Ray!

Reading a few of your recent posts you seem to be trying quite hard at being unfriendly!

Telling a bloke he should get his money back on his bike, criticising someones choice of lid, etc etc...

    C'mon, whats really up?
    - we're a caring sharing bunch here on KB.

Not sure if you have ever heard of this, but you should only say / post something if it is at least 2 of these three:-
    TRUE
    NECESSARY
    NICE

What you have just posted up is barely one of those...

Right, I'm sure I'll get a smart-arsed reply to this now Should be fun...
    - Just make sure its two of the three please. I tried here with my 'True' and 'Necessary' effort

I like my arai too by the way, but mine has no 'labels' on it - plain colours with no logo's. After trying several of the others it was just the best for me, thats all. I guess that makes me a fashion whore to some though...

So it's an undercover poseur Arai. Only people "in the know" will know it's an Arai.

You sir, are a fashion whore.

There's an old saying (a Bell Helmet ad, actually): If you've got a $10 head, get a $10 helmet.

In your case, this may be overstating the case by $9.99.

Ps. You last statement is flirting with libel, you might want to remove it.

The testing proves the point - http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/testhelme...discontinued=1

Arai helmets have been lackluster. Only 2 of 8 helmets get a 4+ star rating. My much cheaper LS2 gets a 4 star rating.

Neither the Arai or Shoei Adv Helmet is tested.
It also appears that older helmets get the "luckluster" ratings - Shoei XR1000 (3 Star) v. XR1100 (5 Star) for example. Newer helmets are safer - no surprise there.

More people may well be killed wearing Arai.
In the same was as more cops crash Holdens than any other brand.

A similar vintage of helmets has been tested across manufacturers. Arai compared poorly. No doubt lessens have been learnt and they are scrambling to catch up. Newer should be better.

It is up to the Helmet Manufacturer to supply the helmets for testing as this is a Government run non profit organization.
It is in the helmet makers best interest to do this if they think that their product is up to the task !!

    I'd get a helmet that complies with AS/NZS 1698:2006.
Yep it looks like the site is geared towards road riders, but then that group of riders would have the biggest percentage of serious accidents.
The do have several Flip front helmets on the site.

So does every other standard applicable to helmets.

Why would you choose a helmet based on the results of just one?
Sharp Tests to the same set of procudures as the european standard UN ECE REG 22.05
Then also tests at faster and slower impact speeds to give a broader test range.

I am not saying that this is the ultimate test out there, just pointing out that the mimimum standard that helmet manufacturers have to meet is not a particularly srtingent standard.

When it comes to something protecting your head, i would think the more protection offered the better.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

The mark-up price is not a sign of quality. Only the naive or the pretentious buy Arai

    Disprove my last 'question'
