    Ducati Desmosedici, collectable yet?

Hypothetically, if one could buy a Desmosedici with under 1000kms on it for under NZ$70,000, would this be a good investment? How long, if ever, before they get desirable dya rekn??
    lucky bastard

They're only worth what someone is willing to pay, and given the recent loss of form from Ducati in MotoGP I don't see a return on investment for at least 20 years. Bear in mind they were conceived when people could borrow money to burn in the living room fireplace, so there may well have been unrealistic expectations around future speculation of collector value. Given that they cost $US72,000 upon release the one you're looking at has depreciated more than I would have expected.

So, 20 years before they reverse depreciation and overtake inflation I reckon.

If you buy it to ride it, it's definitely worth it though.

Investment or not investment, depreciation or profit, I think it's still desireable bike either way.

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

It wouldn't make a bad ornament piece. If it eventually ends up earning you money that's great, until then it'll look great in the lounge

If I had 70k lying around and could purchase a nice one I wouldn't hesitate. They were desirable the minute they made them!!!

I reckon the Panigale is better looking and would probably outperform it on the track too.
(I say probably but I'd like to see a comparison for real)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. And for sure it'd waste it round a race track.

    But that's not the point.

The Desmosedici is a bonafide GP bike with lights.

Actually after having a second take at looking at both of them,...I might have to take back what I said about the 1199 being better lookin'.....

Well, if you can arrange a test ride for both of them for me, I will happily give you my opinion on which is better (and sounds better)

I've heard a D16 winding up, quite a satisfying noise.
As for being a collectors item, sure, why not? Going up in value? Good luck...

I am however, more than happy to ride it and clean it for you. Every day, twice.
