I was thinking the same thing. Pretty sure the thread title is MotoGP 2012, not who beat Fred Flinestone in the last millennium.
Disclaimer: I don't actually know what I'm talking about and everything I say should be taken as words of wisdom from a armchair general/mechanic/engineer/racer.

If nothing else it highlights the gulf between modern Motogp & the quality of racing we had in the dinosaur era.

I actually beg to differ. I've been watching old races here at work on our tellys...and I saw nearly all of them at the time too. Sure there's the odd humdinger of a race with multiple lead changes...but they're the rarity rather than the norm trust me. Nothing much has changed.

Ahh, that would mean my rose tinted spectacles need a wipe, but on the brightside a little youthful enthusiasm must be lingering too.

Best racing.... Hmm lets see. My pic would be any battle between Rainey and Schwantz in the two smoker era. Those two could battle it out till cows came home. 92 or 93 at Assen, where after multiple lead changes Schwantz pulled the last chicane trick on Rainey and shut the door behind.
I've spent my money on bikes, booze and babes. The rest I've wasted....

As my dad always used to say, "The more things change, the more they stay the same."

Now back to current affairs.......................I really wish Ben would tell us where he is going.

I agree. He'd be a loss to Moto GP I reckon. I still don't think we've seen the best of him.

Oh yeah, he is definately way better then he has shown this year. Maybe he would be better suited (with his SBK background) to the point and shoot Honda rather than the GP style Yamaha? So therefore the Gresini Honda ride might be a pretty sweet deal for him to take next year. And a one year contract there might set him up sweet to go to Suzuki in 2014, if they get their shit together.

I also think he was right when he said that if he got out of MotoGP now, it would be unlikely that he would get back in later down the track. At least not on a factory team. Play his cards right though, ride a Honda next year and he may be able to work it out as the lead rider for Suzuki when/if they come back. If they don't, worry about that then.

Only seen a little of what he can do so far. The race he won there was no one on the planet that could've gotten close. Since then we've only seen brief glimpses here and there.
Zen wisdom: No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously. - obviously had KB in mind when he came up with that gem

Goes to show how many things these guys need to get going for them — the right headspace, bike, set-up, crew, team dynamics, etc.

Ha ha, evidently that is true. One of the points of discussion with Gresini was that they use Showa instead of the gold bling. I think they are the only team that arn't running Ohlins.

Where does that thinking come from?

I can't wait for Suzuki to come back to GP, but I don't think Spies is the man for the job.

Because anyone that's won a race and put it on the box deserves to be there far more than some cunt running around making up the numbers. I mean fuck...bet you think Colin Edwards deserves to be there? And hey...I love the guy. I think he's funny as fuck. But he's not to this day won a GP.
