I actually thought you were going to do it a second time, because usually getting up there requires some momentum. I heard the dialogue too, & chuckled a little.
IT'S JUST BETTER WHEN THERE'S TWINS INVOLVED..

Still don't have the gearbox apart. Pattersons are being good sports at lending us several flywheel pullers, they just haven't managed to lend us the size I asked for.
Update: The WR is a runner I took it for a quick spin on the gravel to Okere Falls Store on Saturday, and all is good. So I won't have to push it into the sea after all.

Clint has details and photos here, but this is the condensed version:

Countershaft bearing had pitting/corrosion on the bottom of the outer race. This resulted in the cage and most of the balls being spat into the gearbox. The cage got munched, but didn't damage the gears in the process.

So, we only needed to replace the bearings, the countershaft seal and the various gaskets required to get that far into the engine. And I had to bake lots of bikkies to cover the labour

Yamaha prices from the dealer were very similar to what I could get them for online, and almost everything was ex Oz, so took 3 days to get here.
