Just got rid of one of these Cateye CS1000's I've had for 10 years...

    Brilliant for everything. But...
You need to remove the front wheel to use it and can't use a bike with suspension...

Just go easy with those rims Nordie. They're not too far from being KTM ones. I doubt they'd be dual wall & those culverts aren't friendly on them.
Cyclos are cool tho. my mates got a special one from the States - hand made for him. Can't remember the name...

Just checked and the rims are double walled.

Had a little ride on a Specialized TriCross single speed out in Richmond.
Nice and light and that proper 'cross flattened top tube is soooo comfortable when you're carrying it. Mine has a welded brake boss that digs into your shoulder...

Starting to look for some more robust 700c or 29'er rims.
Haven't laced up a wheel for about 10 years...

    Weighed the pushies today.
The crosser is 12kg and the mtb is 14kg.

The mtb feels a lot more than 2kg heavier...

    I suppose that's the 55mm wide tyres vs 38mm.

Went up Codgers, along the Dun, over Bullock Spur and down to the Brook from Cummins Spur.

Rim brakes and Cummins Spur do not go well together...

Well, skinny tyres, 65psi and road handlebars don't help either

Anybody seen a good dummies guide to wheelbuilding anywhere? Some bastard stole my old pub bike so I'm currently building up a town single speed.

    Gears are for queers

and the gospel according to Sheldon Brown...

I did have a spoke length calculator on one of my web pages many years ago. You just entered flange width, spoke hole PCD, rim dia, number of spoke crosses etc and it spat out almost the right spoke length.
    Never could get it right

Little bro's bike set up for a sealed hill climb over in Oz. Dropped half a kilo just going to a road front wheel without front brakes.
He's dropped serious coin on a Cannondale mtb and Jamis roadie and prefers to ride this and his old steel frame Eddy Merckx...

    The pushy is new...

and the TT is still waiting on the cam chain to be replaced. Once that happens, there'll be more single cylinder bias.

Also it hasn't been fine here on the weekend for about 12 weeks

No I heard it was 3 months.

Went & rode up Fireball, down Turners which is looking very good at the mo, pushed back up the other side of fireball rd to the top of Firball & went down to the bottom. The tracks have dried out really well & have held pretty good over the last few weeks.

You would seriously Fk up your fitness bike on those tracks so i'd look at getting the Cannondale back up again.

Look at the bright side of all the rain - the gorse will be really thick & springy for falling into

The Diamondback hardtail mtb is the one for that sort of shit. Be a bit more enjoyable from Cummins Spur down to the Brook too...
