There is only one tight corner, and as you say, all the rest are nice flowing sweepers. But what the origional post is about is that it is an alpine road, and subject to alpine winds. When we get 10 - 15 kt (18 - 27 kmh) winds in Alex, the Alex - Roxburgh road can see wind speeds of 30 - 50 kts (55 - 90 kmh). Because the road does wind back on itself through the gorges that wind can strike from either side.
I have had my bike actually picked up and deposited on the other side of the road with both wheels clear of the ground in a strong cross wind. Mrs Shrek has not been riding long and congrats to her for riding that road at night in a strong wind.
Time to ride
thats a good time to do it, via the Coast, Haast, Wonka's, Crown back through Alex to Rox then onto Ettrick motor for camp KB from there ova the hill via Moa Flat (like scummy said who named it Flat must have been blind or drunk proberly both) down through Gore (don't stop) on to Invers, then back up the Catlins round the back of Dunners up to Parmy nth pig route Danseys to Kurow, Omarama up the middle to shakey town
all realy nice roads to ride as you know
