(Meanwhile Shafty had gassed up, farewelled the orange Hayabusa, shopped for wine, then popped in to the awards ceremony), riding time: 13 hours

Spotted the new Hitchermobile at the Wind Farm, Swazi Man on a Zed too I see - nice Bikes Mister, a good showing of 'Busa's and Kwaka's. Wished I had a GoPro a couple of times Bandit - sometimes it seems a pity to hurtle thru such nice scenery without slowing to appreciate it.....

Also wouldve been nice to have a beer and a laugh with the main bunch at the finish - getting on the beers 1/2 way thru a 1000k ride doesn't lend itself lol

Hey Jim, I hope you didnt mind me giving that Cop your cell number?

Nah, I took a leisurely lunch at the 66 on 1 Diner. He probably past me then, but I only had eyes for the burger

Normally I pass through Foxton on a schedule, or not a meal time, so damned if I was passing by at lunch time.

Shafty That cop is the Coordinator of the new Ulysses Branch in Turangi. Despite the fact that he is Highway Patrol he is a reasonably decent fellow.

Pun? Using dictionary.com to check out the difference between wave and waive?

Fantastic day, some of the best riding and roads I've so far enjoyed. I enjoyed the road to mauriceville, had a blast on Vinegar Hill, and broke my cherry on the Awakino gorge road. Thanks to John and crew for the day. And the pizza and beer at the end were well earned.
Capital Cruise and TT2000 2012. Looking forward to my two big rides!
