sounds like a good plan to visit the brewery on the way back you will have to lead us there though.

Damn this kids stuff, I got to go see a bleed'n horse on Sunday for my daughter.
Otherwise I'd have been a starter for this wee pootle.
Enjoy Oak O and of course the brewery.
Every day above ground is a good day!:
Hmm, can't find open details for Woodside Estate Cafe on the website. I might give them a call. I am pretty sure the cafe (which has Shunters Brewery beers on tap) is open on Sundays, I just don't know when they shut. I will also try to find out who might be brewing that day.
They are located just off SH1B just past Matangi (coming back from Cambridge way) at 130 Woodside road. Will post again tomorrow with more info.

My wife is trying to make me go on this. (I have been dithering about it, and she is trying to make my mind up for me!)
So, I guess I should look at booking accomodation! Looks like the prices went up, and all the cheap rooms are booked. Plus the online booking thing seems to charge different rates for breakfast depending on the room? $15/$30/$20.
Or should I book through an agent, or even just call them?

You could call direct and say you are with LOR group and have a special rate for the group OR IT IS possible that we ensure we get some twin rooms get 2 people in a room as a number of single guys (mark, martin, phil, slicksta??) are booked - Might be time to sort the accom at Napier out - will talk with Milan next Wednesday at pub meeting - I would leave it a while as I am sure we will find a bed for you. Waihou Bay is pretty much bunk rooms so all booked

Argh! Now I've done it - I emailed them to book a room. If I have to pay a little extra for twin share nevermind. Signed up in the calendar.
As to a ride on a public holiday - yeah getting out on the roads on a public holiday can be scary, but I think with care can be managed. Plus the cops are doing better at raising awareness to take extra care over those times, so hopefully it can be just as safe as getting out there on any other weekend with all those crazy cages!![]()

got a email from King Rusty today advising that the GC is on again for 2013 ( 19/20th Oct 2013 ) & SCRR is on for March 2013... anyone here looking at doing the SCRR ? I've never done it before but am very tempted to give next year a good crack as starting point for CP1 is Cape Reinga ( CP2 Cape Egmont, CP3 East Cape & finish CP4 @ Bluff ) for those that have done it before, how do you plan the transfer to SI & what timeframe do you allow for the transfer ? all ideas/thoughts greatly appreciatedMight make the LOR east coast trip after all

General rule of thumb:
Unless you're on the road at the very start and very end of the holiday period, it's actually the best time since every other bugger is already at their destination, lying on the beach, drinking Slippery Nipples.
Of course, we all know how shit it is to travel with every one else at the start and end though.
But like Murray said, since it's anniversary weekend, not many will be heading in the same direction.
Ok it sounds like at the very least the cafe should be open and there will a brewer there on Sunday so depending on our timing we may get a nose in.![]()
