I get the impression people seem to think there is very little work happening to our chair so I thought I'd do an update on some of the work that's been going on this past week.

I've repaired the rear swing arm so it's bearings will fit properly and fitted new bearings then mounted a '99 R1 shock in the rear.
Made some new soft engine mounts for the front, which we'll fit later on this week.
I made a new foot pedal assembly for the gear shifter out of aluminium.
Yesterday I made some spacer blocks to fit between the two halves of a motorcycle brake calliper so it can be mounted on the car disk up front. This will be our auxiliary brake. For this brake we're using a Brembo master cylinder. This however needed a new rear half of the bar clamp made ( the bolts are offset so I couldn't use any old clamp), which I've now done.
I did an average job of welding up the exhaust too.

We've got a couple of 13x7 Hotwire mags to go on the chair wheel to replace the steel 13x10 rims on it. This however means we need to get some more front sized tires.
While you sit there liking things just cos' everyone else does, I'll be standing up here keeping it real.

What exactly is a "front size tyre"? measure between the inner bead edges in inches & post it up. I have a stack of 2nd hand slicks in my carport for this exact purpose.

The hotwire is 13x7. 170 section tyre on the front rim of the same size, could possibly do with being a 180 but the front is brand new so we'll wrestle with it till replacement time.

what did you guys do to get alloys on the cheap? just buy car rims with correct offset and redrill the centers for your hubs?

Agip bike wants alloys... I can tell.. the steel wheels weight vs the one alloy I have is considerable. Apparently sponge bobs old bike has the agip bikes other 2 alloys.. dunno if new owner is gonna let them go tho haha damn it

Na, the chair wheel mounting was shit. Since we have to fix it, we'll remount it for the pair of hotwires Al happened to have lying around.

Rear alloy is getting a new ally hub, so offset for that doesn't matter either.

The front tyres are 170/500 - 13. The rim measures 180mm between the beads.

I would think that would be quite old, I'd probably go for a 7.2 front and side and 8.2 or 9.0 rear

Will check the date stamp on the front hoop, but it doesn't seem to be old and fucked.

Would rather not buy three tyres if we can get away with two.

180mm is 7.2 inch, dont go any wider, its not a motorbike & all going wider will do is round the tyre out so you only run on the centre of it.

Yeah. 180 is heaps front and chair. Gonna be 170 chair till it wears out to make use of the current front.
