I reckon it's a toss up for hardest core adventurer award for the DB1k 13 between Richie's missus for doing the whole thing on the back of an XR650R or Murray for piloting the R1200GSA over the Awakino.

    Cheers

Best "back-end" I've ever seen on an xr650 - would have to give it to Richie's missus

Take it he not a member on here ?
we rode with the guy on the V-strom black forest good effort, he can't have liked his screen very much or the mag wheels as he re-aranged them but he will be back

& Richie's lady gets my vote for hard man/lady she only had to get off once on the ride, & to do it all on the 650 with that little seat but when following behind nice back end

Hey, that looks like an old photo.... pretty sure the man in the background wasn't there this year... and no worries, only 4 hours of video to go back though, no idea what others got.

Definitely Richie's missus wins that one. She was sitting on a peice of vinyl covered foam about 100mm by 150mm. 1000kms of that is tough. Also she rode for a bit of the Big Omarama Saddle (challenge section). They did the long way around (Taupo) two up on the XR as well but with footpegs on the swing arm. One seriously tough lady. Offered them a RK voucher but they turned it down!

Guy on the Vstrom is on here, chc4me is his handle. He is doing bloody well considering he only got off a GN250 (his learners bike) about a year ago.

Shrek rode a lowered DR650 over the Awakino last year.

    That bike deserves an award

Nah pretty sure he didn't given pre DB1k emails. Shrek mentioned Black Forest.

Actually why is Black Forest called that. Apart from a few "Oaky lookingish things" (collar and tie engineer not a botanist) around the homestead and willow and poplars around lake, I can hardly see a "black forest". Anybody know the history?
