I am going to try and save for a two piece, zip together leather suit for Christmas perhaps. Probably not knee sliders as I don't think I will be getting my knees down on the road. My jacket and pants have the standard armour and I already have a (horrendously expensive) back protector! Textile is ok for slow speed, city riding esp in variable weather but I do a lot of open road riding and track days so really want leather too!

I am looking for some volunteers to help me with my CBTA1 (Competency Based Training and Assessment) trials. I need about 20 riders.
These riders would IDEALLY have been riding for a few months, and be near the Restricted Licence test standard, but if they are higher or lower, or on any bike licence, I can use them as well.
If you have had some training, or not, that's ok too.

If you are interested in helping to make the roads safer for motorcyclists, then please contact me to make a booking.
My approved test route is in the Rodney area..

You might be asking yourself, "What's in it for me?"
    Several benefits really......
A chance to have an honest assessment of where your riding is at, at the moment..(on a bike, you don't get a second chance to get that overtaking/cornering manoeuvre correct)
Secondly, the chance to help make our roads safer for those who love to have the wind in your hair, and the flies in your teeth ;-)......
And each participant will be entered into a draw, for the chance to win a SUPER DUPER PRIZE PACK....

Can I please ask you to share this with your biking mates, or on the walls of groups, such as Mag New Zealand, Facebook bikers, New Zealand Motorbike Riders, other KB forums, so I can get a broad range of riders through the assessment.
If anyone would like to undertake some training prior to the assessment, then please contact me, sooner,, rather than later...
www.rcsom.co.nz or rcsom@xtra.co.nz or PM me, through FB or KB
    My cell phone number is: 021 269 3246. 0800 4 LESSON

Hey! Thanks for the advice! I will keep that in mind. I have been on quads before (totally different though) coming from a farm. I haven't been riding long... it's been a week! Mentor is a good idea, don't think I'd be confident in a group yet , I'm keen to check out SASS when I'm a bit more improved.

Newbie friends can be fun. Like the gentle egging to push limits. Like some people getting me on the motherfecking motorway!!!

But yea as Bosslady said bad habits not so good to pick up. Tho I've picked up a few things from other lemons who have been to trainings where I haven't.

Motorways are easy as everybody is going in the same direction at roughly the same speed. I have far less trouble on the motorway compared to suburban roads.

Thing is that in suburbia if I freak out or something happens with my "special" bike I can pull over and it's not a biggie.

I felt more than just a little really cool tho when I changed to my reserve tank while riding on the motorway at night!

Why I do all my first times at night I do not know

Here, here. Same with the track too, no cars or trucks or animals that randomly run out in front of you to worry about. Everybody is going the same way, it's super easy. Just gotta keep your eye out for retarded lane changes by cars.

Retarded lane changes? More like incoherent wobbling in the cage

Other than people that shouldn't have been given a licence the motorway and everyday riding are a joy and a great way to relax and unwind after work

Also for those that don't have game of thrones might come to Nass or sass
