We have had and experienced all the best of "peace" in our time, my generation lived like kings and queens!

I disagree completely - but then, you'd expect that wouldn't you ... civil disobedience is a basic "right" within democracy - one of the few allowable direct acvion methods .. instigated chaos? Not sure what you mean by that - but I would probably enjoy it ..

Hmmmm, I will try to explain what I mean by civil disobedience and organised chaos.

I don't disagree with you about our basic rights but there are those that will use that for there own ends and that is where it gets dangerous.

Irrespective of who is right or wrong in the recent upheavals in Brazil, Turkey, et al, the resulting confusion and breakdown of order will take a long time to heal.

If you extrapolate these events out all over the world, (which wouldn't take too much to do) the resulting chaos would take forever to get sorted! (IMHO)

Already there are many suggestions/questions circulating of just who are the beneficiaries of these disruptions and why?

Remember the notices printed on fireworks of old! ... "Light blue touch paper, do not hold in the hand!"

I believe that if this behaviour is ignited and spread around the world simultaneously, it will take many, many, decades to get back to where we are now.

Just my opinion/observation, nothing more, nothing less.

I reckon it's the usual cycle of kids v's adults and given that past generations have a different set of values, some of it is bound to be rebelled against. We haven't made a mess, we've just handled it really badly... moreover we've handled it in exactly the same way that our parents handled it, we said NO! End of! For some unknown reason adults believe they know more than the kids, granted in a lot of respects that's true, but that doesn't make them "right" across the board, contrary to popular belief it would seem. In fact I'd venture that kids don't rebel against us, but that we rebel against them and then blame them for being the problem. They must fit in with us, not us with them. They must think like us, not us like them. They must learn like us, not us like them. They must have it hard, because we once had it hard too. Praps we should all be shot by the age of 30, or at least we should be interviewed by a panel of 14/16yr olds and should it be deemed necessary they should be allowed to shoot us, or at least have Adultator with lions and things that make you dead. Adults simply don't listen and they certainly seem to refuse change blah blah blah blah...

The only reason things take so long to calm down is because nothing actually changes, nothing gets done in response to the reasons people got off their arse and voiced their discontent in the first place. If the furor dies down because the voices have been listened to, things go back to normal quite quickly... but where that discontent remains because of inaction, then you're right, confusion will reign and it will simmer until the next time people get pissed enough that they moblise and voice their discontent.

This was bourne out by Occupy. So many people wanting Occupy to qualify their discontent where Occupy itself was a melting pot of leaderless environmentalists, anti-capitalists, anarchists, insert group with pet peeve of choice. So many drums to bang and too many people asking Occupy to bang 1 drum so that they could understand their point of view. Moderately amusing that so many on here couldn't grasp that simple fact. The downside is that they all have their pet peeves for very valid reasons and yet none of those peeves will be addressed, just more of the same.

The benefit of allowing protests? Time. More time is afforded to the cheesemakers, I mean reignmakers, I mean lawmakers to put things in place to nullify any future outbursts with any force necessary... better yet, to spy on those who might organise such things and jail them as terrorists.

Similar to yourself, just my opinion/observation, nothing more, nothing less, but I believe the evidence available highlights intent and there are very few powerful people v's a hoard of angry people. I can't say I blame them for wanting a heads up, but I do blame them for jailing people for standing up for their right to be heard.
