Please explain, cause as the safety guru on here I think your input would be invaluble.

So if some mad cunt on P wants to take you out you plan on sitting there abusing them?

    Good luck with that.

    1) no - the car was stationary at the lights
    2) no - while I was accelerating then yes when I stopped accelerating at 59km/hr At this point the car caught up to me (there was a large gap behind me as I accelerated considerably faster than him but since I wasn't going to speed too much in 50km/hr area he caught up since he was obviously going much faster) I should make a note that even when the car caught up to me it was a 2 multi laned road and I was in the slow lane (for NZ drivers that can't comprehend which one it is, it's the left one...) yet he decided to tailgate me in the left hand instead of taking the right lane which was clear and came up on my left hand side between me and the curb (at this point I couldn't move over the the right lane as there were cars there.

You need advice on how to avoid confrontation?

How do you manage to dress yourself in the morning?

I've gone soft in me old age & if I feel I'm going to piss of a driver filtering I don't. You know, their wheels turn, a scowl in the mirror, animated hand gestures to the passenger while they look back etc. I'm much happier just letting them go with a courteous wave, a minute or two on my journey is irrelevant. Even in a confrontation I'm quite happy saying after you sir, it's not worth the angst.
Sure, it does not guarantee that some shit head won't get homicidal on me but it does help minimise it.
Usually they can't drive for toffee anyway & you pass them because you can read the traffic better.
At lights I never pull ahead, usually alongside, & give them the benefit of deciding who goes first, just got to watch the vehicles behind you, though.

I often think they are small minded angry little pricks anyway so who am I to make their life even worse. Let em go, move on.

Some of you cunts need to turn that frown upside down.
Sitting on a busa with a hilux tailgating you is great fun. Pisses them off alright, sure I could go faster, but I just smile and wave. Chur

I think we have some less than courteous bikers out there to thank for this sort of thing. Scarey shit though.
I had a guy going into Mt Victoria tunnel try to swerve to stop me getting ahead. Just drove around him and contiued on my way. Can't let cagers get to you. Water off a ducks back and all that.... try to shrug it off.

why I asked is i have had a few bikes pull to the front then go slower than the traffic was, very frustrating when in the cage but didn't get that it was a two lane road.

"You like other traffic to overtake you", really ?, sell your fucken bike man and get a scooter.

Why would a bike hold u up if the rider has gone to the front ? Do you hold others up at the lights if you are first to go?
Were you pissed when you read the post?

In town I like to get to the front so I filter. I don't do queues, that's one of the reasons I have a bike. And I don't hold anyone up when the lights change either. On the open road I like traffic because it breaks up the boredom of long distances and the mobile chicanes get the adrenaline going. Another reason I have a bike.

At road works where the road surface is crap a bike that filters to the front is likely to hold up the car behind them. If they do they are an arrogant wanker - they probably ride with their lights on full beam as well. You're on a bike so there will be an overtaking opportunity within about 10 seconds anyway, why piss off a car driver?
