I wear built up boots that require the brake pedal to be adjusted in a different way to normal. I have been caught out twice now by very helpful mechanics adjusting my rear brakes for me, to discover I cant actually reach the pedal with my boots when I have needed to stop First time was the shop I bought it from. Rode off into the sunset with a huge big cheesy grin and about shit when I went to stop at the first set of traffic lights. More recently I had new tyres fitted, lovely young man adjusted up the brake pedal to where it "should" be. Once again, no rear brakes when I rode away. Bit of a slow learner me, I have to remember to either tell them not to fiddle with it at all, or remember to check it myself before I ride off.

I understand how disconcerting it is to have something radically change on your bike especially braking capability. I am surprised a testing station touched them to be honest, and for such a big difference they must have felt very soft to the tester. Hope you get that one resolved bosslady. Good reminder to us all though. When your bike has been in a workshop or similar, we should always check that everything is where it should be and works like it used to, or at least be aware that something has changed that might affect your ride.

I was once out on a ride with another couple when we stopped for a photo op. Just as bloody well we did, his front brake calliper was holding on by a couple of turns of one bolt Could have been very, very nasty if it had fallen into his front wheel at the pace we were clipping along prior. His bike had just been in an Auckland workshop getting new tyres, he had picked it up the day before. Very, very dangerous.

Even better when the crane is located in the center of the building, usually a lift shaft, and they move it up in sections so its not to high once it gets real high. In other words you support the crane on a chosen floor and then take away the bottom of the tower, and keep moving it up. If you can follow that. I know what I mean.

My first thought is that you have led a very sheltered life if this sort trifling experience provokes so much angst. My second thought is..
