dont talk blasphemy the mighty XR didnt break down......i still rode her home, none of these new ride by wire bikes could acheive that if there throttle went down, actually not many bikes can do that full stop

gold chain my $40 EK's are good enough for me, mine still going 20+ K

any photos from the Coro ride, hows that tyre holding up now theres some gravel klms on it

Around the bottom of North Head (Kaipara Harbour)

Has anyone ever ridden around the bottom of North Head (Kaipara Harbour)? I guess you would get on to the beach at the end of Pouto Road, and ride around and up towards Glinks Gully. https://maps.google.co.nz/maps?q=pou...ed=0CCsQ8gEwAA

Even if you didn't make it all the way from Pouto to Glinks on the first attempt, you could check out the Pouto end at low tide to see if it would be feasible.

Since it's about 200 km from Auckland to Pouto, this is something that you wouldn't want to do in a single day. (It would be a big day out.)

Any thoughts? (Probably better for the warmer months ahead...)

I know this is the Waikato group, but they have ranged as far North as Muriwai. (I wonder how far out of the Waikato Basin they are willing to venture?) If nothing comes of this, I may poke around in the Auckland / Warkworth / Northland groups. However, the Waikato riders are a fun bunch who like a challenge, so I'll see if anyone is interested.

    Send a PM to Chris.
If i remember correctly he organized an overnighter up there about 3 years ago.

Would be quite keen to get up that way again once it gets a bit lighter and warmer.

    This is for you Mark

I know you didn't want to venture down this route, but it is all kitted out ready to go for someone. The hard work has been done I guess?
Something for an aspiring Waikato rider perhaps? Dino?, trade the Red machine Honda in mate for another red machine Husqvarna....

Thanks for that. It's a summer adventure ride for sure. I'll give it a couple of months and then e-mail Chris.

In the meantime, back to the Waikato channel...
