Are you able to scan those pages and put them up for all to see, especially those who have no idea what a Vauxhall looks like, let alone a Ventora...

That coke-bottle kick made those Victors / Ventoras [FD series?] look like bigger HB Vivas or vice versa...

I took the MG for a WOF yesterday. I have done 34miles since its last one.

Its a neat wee car to drive and I always wonder why I don't drive it more often.

My bad - I was meaning the Ventora, doh!

And my Mistral had a 3" X 3" box section chassis and used Mk5 six-cylinder Cortina front and rear suspension, diff etc.

Only did low 14 second 1/4 miles - but that was taking off in 2nd with buckets of wheel-spin and smoke...needed bigger rubber.

Top speed would have to be 130mph+ (I didn't have the nads to find out how far past the 130 the + was)

Warm 302 Windsor - double valve-springs, hot cam, alloy intake, 600 Holley, headers etc.

4th gear wheelspin in the wet at 50kph, like a go-kart on steroids...:

A workmate took that a step further and put an Isuzu Gemini motor and box into his Chevette. (This was back in the days when you were permitted such things without certs, etc)

Gemini and Chevette were pretty much the same floor pan, it was a very easy swap.

(Chevette handled well but had a shit motor, Gemini vice versa
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Mine was from an HS chevette a mate got from somewhere, 2.2 slant motor. Bloody hard to get all 16 valves bouncing thats for sure.Man that thing could rev out, took it to a local gymkahana once and paul adams was there, I think he was NZ rally champ at that stage, and even he was impressed.

If you ever want to take a "propper" english sports car out for a spin, there are quite a few nice back roads around here in the hills.

Found another old mag from '69 with a bigger write-up on Vokkers - found out the only 3.3 Victor available to the Poms was the wagon, if they wanted the saloon model it had to be a Ventora - oh my, what a decision to make!...
