Guess he'll be shouting the boys a fair bit then. Could have just as easily shot one of them, that's the real concern.

Indeed, its a fuck up for sure mind you day in day out dealing with with fuck ups probably blunts the whole affair a tad.On an average cops attend 1800 domestic incidents every week what i find amusing is the outcry over events such as this but no mention week in week out of how fucked up it is that there having to attend so manySo quick to condemn the actions of a few whilst ignoring the shit that goes on around them on a daily basis.

That's all well and good. But it's only being said at times like now too. A least, by a lot of people.

Basic firearm safety got forgotten. Someone took a slug in the back because of it. And someone is going to get in the shit for it.

Yeah ... well ... I happen to know this one ... and he's not what you think. He comes from a very well off family. His mother tries to look after him, but he's a handfull. He's been in and out of mental hospitals for many years.

While I don't defend scumbags .. this one is not. THis is a true mental illness case ...

Dunno about that...aggravated robbery, bomb threat on a bus and numerous other crimes; may have a mental illness but still dangerous

    Oh I agree .. to a certain extent ...

He has been very badly treated by the mental health authorities (including once being remanded in custody to a psychiatric clinic by the courts - the clinic then let him out for the weekend - despite him being on remand - dumped him in a cheap hotel for the weekend with no food or money - he tried to rob a petrol station - doh !!!)

He can appear very dangerous - so he gets treated that way - but he has never actually done a lot - mostly threats and over reactions on his part ...

He's very sick .. but needs treatment and care by the mental health authorities ... who don't want to know - He's more likely to wind up dead (as in this incident) than to hurt someone else ..

The system is ill prepared for permanent care unfortunately. And private care costs more than you could imagine.

Committing someone for the good of themselves and others, is fucken hard to do long term.

I know...have got a cousin with the mental age of 5 (now 42)...bloody shame Was in permanent care in Sunnyside then the system change and he was sent home then when he threw a wobbly the only way his father used to be to control him as a teenager when he got stroppy was to KO him, the way the system works is ridiculous they've got him in a halfway house type situation now and the things that happen there is unreal. I almost got expelled from my intermediate for defending him as he was in a special needs class that the school held...he used to get picked on continuously

Probably cleaning it... "oops, didn't know it was loaded Boss!".

Or... is this the new "execution arm" of the NZ Police? Has someone been on a fact-finding tour of Mexico and Colombia recently?
