    I THINK they're ash-trays D.

And yeah DOHC and I THINK (twice!) that the spark-plug wires run along through that 'tube'.

Just about all the 3.8 jag engines ended up in stock cars. With a big 4 Bbbl Holley (cause stockies were only allowed one carb) and open exhaust they weren't too sluggy.
Pretty much ruled the roost until 245 valiants took over (sleeved down cyl 1 & 6 with a 202 holden piston to get under 240ci)

Ah just realised you were referring to the Snipe, not the Jag. OK the Humbers were a slug. A friend here in Wellington used to by Snipes and Super Snipes for a few hundred dollars each and smash them up in Demolition Derbies at Te Marua. More often than not he'd win because they were pretty much unstoppable tanks.

Sheesh D, look at the induction on the Snipe.

Then think of the weight of that lard-arsed luxo-barge.

No comparison with a Skyline or similar.

The Snipe's engine is an OHV only... so nothing special at all.

Very popular as chauffeur drive cars in the UK - big business, corporation mayors and the like... or the landed gentry, though they liked the estate versions. Considered a step up from Rover P-series and Triumph Renowns.

well by what those above are saying is its a DOHC rather than the usual SOR or even the DOR like the 2.5 v8
shit anyone else than the poms got some grunt out of DOHC engines, shit even guzzi did it in 54 and it was a water cooled 8 500cc

The Humber's straight 6 engine was OHV. It did have a rather large rocker cover which was dipped in the middle to carry the spark plug leads - this can give the appearance that it's a DOHC engine.
