This is just the latest in each class of what they have sent to me.
I wouldn't read it as official fact, also I may have cocked up typing!
It is interesting seeing some of the names on there!
H. J. Munro is down in the 750 class in 1957 at 143.59 MPH!!!
Edit: They are also all labeled as "Road Speed Record" - I'm not sure if that means anything.
Think is a write up done by Koba perhaps on another forum? (found it a couple of days back) Little food for thought. I believe the same motor is the GT50 we are currently running.
when i first got the gt was told it ran a 87mph flying qurter but then later told 84mph but maybe some flying some standing or just one way runs who knows
That 125 record was run in fog on the South Eyre road....ride up the road till he could see the traps then accelerate. Not a nice morning.
i understand that although that is still on the books there has been a higher speed posted but not officailly recognised.
Yeah actually getting it all together on an official day & doing the runs is another matter.
I considered it for my 50, but then realised that bucket rules allow for up to 53cc where as speed rules means 50cc max. Mine is legal bucket, but over size for land speed.
Don't you look at my accountant.

Ha - and actually knowing the bore and stroke of the motor helps too....The same day the 125 record was set, Jane Parret (as she was then) did a heroic ride in fog to break the 250 record by just enough.....But when it came to measuring, the owner of the TZ kept saying 50.7 stroke....I'm in the background going, "no, no, you berk, it's 50.6" the official measuring gear wasn't good enough to pick 50.6 from 50.7 so the record was never ratified....
Doesn't Ivan Juggins own the 125 record now on a bone stock Honda RS125?
Somewhere around 200kmh/125mph.
Speed records are only done in the South Island?
I think 208 one way, but somewhere very close to 199/200kmh with a combined speed.
To be fair, anyone with a Honda RS125 could break it, it was stock and Ivan's body shape is hardly aerodynamic. But good on him, because at the end of the day. To achieve something, you have to do it.
It was Mark Taylor's D. You may be right but the classic yam dimensions are 56 x 50.6.
Given that with the measuring equipment on hand, the barrels had measured up as a tad baggy - and no, i don't know how that happened - and Mark was adamant on 50.7 stroke, the measurers arrived at around 252cc...
The alternative to measuring at the scene had been offered - Kev McCleary would take it away and certify it - but Mark wanted it done then despite advice to the contrary. The bugger of it all was that after it was found oversize there was no appeal available - and because the entry was specified as for the 250 record, it couldn't just go in as a 350 record....
For the record (no pun intended) I'm sure it was not oversize. There's a lesson here for record breakers - always ask to see the measuring equipment that's going to be used.
what?
