Yes and no, technically is a valid format if you have the program they created the roll chart with but most of us do not so our computers do not recognise and can not open it. I'm surprised they made that mistake.
I had also replied to them requesting it to be resent as a .pdf (same as the fuel chart) as soon as I saw the email arrive.
Now we wait again... though it is the GPS files I really want a look at.

GPS files arrived but the instructions don't really match the files confusing the definition of track with route in a couple of places in the instructions.
I'm fine with it and I like what they have tried to do with cutting the route up in to smaller sections of better detail but....they should probably have just sent end product instead of trying to get people to convert stuff themselves. Instructions have confused Tracks and Routes, they have sent track files and want us to convert them to route files ourselves presumably to better suit our own devices, I'll be interested to see how others get on.
I have Saturday free for me mates locally if they want help.... I don't really know how to work the zumos but the Legends, the Map60, and Map 62's I can do.
Personally I will keep the tracks (tidied in a couple of places I see have gone astray) and have them highlighted on the GPS screen in the background and also navigate using the 250 point routes I create from them to get the distance to and eta type features of the gps to work.
I also keep a separate lot of waypoint flags on screen to match roll chart cells but need to double check that they are still accurate when the roll chart files arrive.
Edit: I'd delete track point #50 from Db1ksatAM14 file as it will take you to the house instead of just turning left up the hill... it's at S44 06.654 E170 52.820
It's where Ryan used to paint the road to get people to turn through the gate. I'd guess when they were making the new track logs they either missed the turn or visited the farmer and forgot to clean the point off the track. GPS reflection may be another possible cause of the anomaly. It is a corner I remember well having seen issues there every year.

RBF files are for Roadbook Editor which hasn't been updated since 2008.

is it the same as last year, TA?
Yes, but the new GPS files they sent are semi clean track logs instead of route files this time (it is hard to catch and erase all the little unnecessary detour points from stops or wrong turns in a log hence 'semi' clean) so they have more detail than previous years.
Epic appear to want us to convert their track logs to route files ourselves which is actually the way I'd prefer to do it anyway.
Just the instruction sheet that came in the email is a bit backward.

See you sat to upload files to my gps...what shall I bring...Milo...soup...chocolate as payment lol?
Might be doing a roady to Kaikoura or Cheviot for lunch now Saturday, evening might be ok or Sunday.
I'll look at doing a bit more of a track tidy then prep some 250 point routes ready to go so we can simply select them and send to GPS without the need for you guys to mess with Basecamp.

The received track files are messier than I first thought, if you start navigating the main route files there is nothing other than local knowledge to show you where the Challenge options start on day two. I'm going to cut my routes at the Challenge/bypass option points.
Got some work to do to neaterise everything this evening, there were doublebacks and extras like a trip up to a motel and back included that I've already erased to save points when converting to the route format, will have a closer look later, going to Kaikoura shortly, it a beaut day out there now.
