The photo of the Nissan test track is from 2009. When the world was in the grip of the GFC. A search of the same location on google maps shows a completely clear test track. It is quite common for vehicles to be stored in large quantities awaiting shipping to countries like NZ that manufacture no cars.

There's tricks to buying older cars, like don't buy anything obviously modified, don't buy cars that may have been owned by a boy racer, where possible buy Toyota. You can also get hints as to the service history by talking to the previous owner and having experience of that particular model helps too.

I believe you and I had this discussion a few months ago, I maintain the 20v is a great motor but if you're looking for reliability the early 16v 4AGE is better (the only common problem I know of involves TVIS and is easily rectified) and Toyota has built countless other great motors. Admittedly my 20v does use a lot of oil, about a litre every 5000km, but I still love the power delivery and strength of that motor.

I changed the alternator on my Sons Levin....what a mission, they built the car around that.
I was surprised when he got it, the power for a 1600 and still quite flexible.

mate has one. You CAN do the cambelt with the engine in....(i would suggest having someone slam your hands in a ranch slider first - to prepare you for the pain, but also to make your bones narrower)
Auto and tops out at 183 (gps) whether in fun mode or not. Would i buy one?

And an lsd on the front? Unless youre doing it in reverse, its fucken random on gravel.
My 85 age (manual)was the fucking shiz, shame it was wasted on fwd.. The fx gt starlet (manual) was fun and the gt carrozerla?, might have been a 20... Auto.

I had a 1987 nz assembled gt corolla 2 door hatch.
Leather seats, 240km/h speedo, red door trim and seatbelts.
Bluetop big port 4age. Went waaay better than my japanese imported fxgt for some reason...

Bro my brother has 2 4AGZE Levins. One Street legal and the other running a Lexus V8 twinscrew supercharger at 22psi. Hes hoping to break 400hp on it this year.

They're reliable if you fit a decent breather system to them and a fucking maaaahoosive oil drain from the head, otherwise I would not recommend raping one, it's the reason there are countless exploded bottom ends in 16V 4ages.

Yeah, good ol' 20v, like a B16A but with less cute wee motors. I wouldn't mind building a 7age up one day, dump it in an AW and have many, many giggles (and shits...).
