My first Dusty Butt done. I had a fantastic time. Thanks Pouakai for organising the Friday ride which got very interesting doing the orari gorge section, i wouldn't have coped as well as you did, i was most impressed. Saturday was great, i hooked up with Matt and Dwayne riding 570 Husabergs who led me over the Awakino ranges. ( i watched many videos of this on youtube) nothing prepared me for what was in front of me. It was without doubt the hardest terrain i have ever ridden on. I somehow managed to get over without an off. Cheers Matt and Dwayne for leading me over. The Lamamoors managed to throw me off once, got through serpentine and big Omarama saddle no problem. What a great weekend thanks to cynna thepom and pete-blen as well. Taking the WR 450 was the best idea thanks SE950. My son is keen for next year on my XTZ 660. The hard standard seat on WR was ok even riding back to ch ch. I plan to return next year.

First 'major' issue in a cumulative 50000km? I'll take those numbers. It was still able to make it through Black Forest, even with shit in the carbs.

Sounds like the DB kept up its rep as a bike breaker ( or there were a lot more people un prepared this year ).

There must be a knighthood coming in next years honours list for Sir Struan.
